About the Role
FS University is looking for a dedicated Assistant Professor to join our Department of Mathematics. You will teach, mentor students, carry out research, and help build the department’s academic reputation.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses
- Handle core and elective subjects such as Calculus, Linear Algebra, Real and Complex Analysis, Abstract Algebra, Differential Equations, Numerical Methods, Probability and Statistics, or Operations Research
- Prepare lesson plans, course material, assignments, and exams
- Use up-to-date teaching methods, including problem-solving sessions, software tools, and digital resources
- Evaluate students fairly and give regular feedback
Computational and Practical Work
- Conduct computer lab sessions using software such as MATLAB, Python, R, Mathematica, or LaTeX
- Help maintain lab resources and software licences
Research and Publications
- Carry out original research and publish in reputed, peer-reviewed or UGC-CARE / Scopus-indexed journals
- Present papers at conferences, seminars, and workshops
- Apply for research grants (DST, SERB, UGC, CSIR, NBHM, etc.) and guide student projects
Student Mentoring
- Mentor students in academics, research, and career planning
- Guide students for competitive exams (NET, GATE, JAM, CSIR) and higher studies
- Supervise project work, dissertations, and mathematics club activities
Institution Building
- Help with curriculum design and syllabus updates
- Support accreditation and ranking work (NAAC, NIRF, UGC inspections)
- Take part in admissions, exam duties, and committees
- Organise seminars, workshops, math olympiads, and guest lectures
- Contribute to the university’s outreach and community programmes
Qualifications
Required
- Master’s degree (MSc) in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics/Statistics with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade)
- Strong knowledge of core Mathematics subjects
- Good communication and presentation skills
Preferred
- PhD in Mathematics
- UGC-NET / SET / CSIR-NET qualification
- Prior teaching or research experience
- Published research papers
- Experience with mathematical software or programming (MATLAB, Python, R, LaTeX, etc.)
