Role Summary

The Maintenance Engineer keeps the equipment of a soda ash and calcium chloride plant reliable, available, and safe through preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance. The role troubleshoots failures, improves maintenance practices, coordinates maintenance work, and supports shutdowns, turnarounds, and reliability improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance planning and execution

Plan, coordinate, and carry out preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance to the approved strategy and schedule.

Review notifications and work orders, define scope, and prepare job plans, manpower, tools, and spares.

Equipment troubleshooting

Provide technical support for rotating and static equipment, including pumps, compressors, gearboxes, conveyors, fans, blowers, heat exchangers, vessels, piping, and valves.

Investigate failures and recurring problems, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.

Condition monitoring and reliability

Coordinate vibration monitoring, lubrication analysis, thermography, and condition inspections.

Review equipment history to find bad actors and opportunities for reliability and cost improvement.

Shutdowns and projects

Support shutdown and turnaround planning and execution, from scope to startup.

Give technical input on modifications, upgrades, replacements, and MOC, and support commissioning.

Safety and compliance

Make sure all maintenance follows HSE policies, permit-to-work, isolation and LOTO procedures, and OEM recommendations.

Records, spares, and KPIs

Keep accurate records in SAP PM or the applicable CMMS.





Work with warehouse and procurement on spare parts specifications and critical spares.

Track KPIs such as availability, downtime, MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance, and backlog.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.

Minimum 10 years of maintenance experience in chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas, fertilizer, or process manufacturing.

Proven experience maintaining rotating and static equipment in continuous process plants, including shutdowns and turnarounds.

Good written and spoken English.

Preferred

Direct maintenance experience in soda ash or calcium chloride plants.

Hands-on experience with SAP PM or a similar CMMS.

Training or certification in reliability, condition monitoring, or root cause analysis.

Working Conditions

The role is based in the maintenance office and plant areas, with exposure to noise, heat, dust, and chemical hazards. Appropriate PPE is mandatory in the process area. Call-outs and extended hours are expected during breakdowns, shutdowns, and turnarounds.
