JOB DESCRIPTION: BOILER ATTENDANT

Job Summary
The Boiler Attendant is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant boiler and its auxiliary equipment. The role is to ensure a continuous and reliable steam supply for production and sterilization (autoclave) areas, in line with statutory safety requirements and GMP practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Start up, operate, monitor and shut down the boiler as per SOPs.
- Monitor pressure, temperature, water level, fuel supply and other operating parameters, and record them in the boiler logbook at regular intervals.
- Maintain correct water level and ensure proper functioning of water level gauges, safety valves, pressure gauges and feed pumps.
- Carry out boiler blowdown, and check feed water quality (TDS, hardness) as per schedule.
- Operate and monitor boiler auxiliaries such as feed water tank, water softener, fuel system and steam distribution line.
- Ensure uninterrupted steam supply to production, autoclave and other user areas.
- Carry out routine cleaning, inspection and preventive maintenance, and report any leakage, abnormal sound or malfunction immediately.




- Follow all safety procedures and statutory requirements under the Boilers Act and the rules of the Factories Inspectorate.
- Support internal and statutory boiler inspections and keep inspection records ready.
- Maintain shift handover records and keep the boiler area clean and safe.
- Follow GMP, housekeeping and safety practices of the company.

Qualifications and Experience

- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, or equivalent technical qualification (preferred).
- Valid Boiler Attendant Certificate (competency certificate as per Boiler Operation Engineers rules) is preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in operating an industrial boiler.
- Experience in a pharmaceutical or similar manufacturing plant is an added advantage.

Skills Required

- Valuable knowledge of boiler operation, safety devices and emergency procedures.
- Basic knowledge of water treatment for boiler feed water.
- Ability to maintain accurate logbooks and records.
- Alertness, responsibility and a strong safety-conscious attitude.
- Willingness to work in rotating shifts, including night shifts.

Employment Type: Full-time, on-site, shift-based

Candidate Location Preference

- Candidates residing nearest to Calicut or Balussery will be an added advantage.

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
