Gather report requirements from users, document them, and deliver within agreed timelines.
Must-have skills 4–5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or later).
Strong T-SQL: complex joins, CTEs, window functions, functions and transactions. Proven expertise in developing and optimising complex stored procedures: parameters, error handling (TRY/CATCH), transactions, dynamic SQL and efficient set based logic. Ability to understand business requirements from users and translate them into database logic, reports and working solutions.
Strong problem-solving skills: debugging data issues, finding root causes of report mismatches and fixing them quickly.
Report development in SSRS and Crystal Reports: parameters, sub-reports, drill downs, grouping and export formats.
Database design: normalisation, indexing, constraints and query performance tuning.
Database administration basics: backup/restore, jobs, user roles and permissions. Experience with ETL using SSIS or SQL Agent jobs. Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups) for data validation and ad-hoc reports
