Turbine Field Operator

Experience: 5–6 Years

Job Purpose

To operate, monitor, and maintain turbine field equipment and associated auxiliaries safely and efficiently, ensuring reliable power generation, steam supply, and uninterrupted plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operate and monitor steam turbines, associated auxiliaries, and field equipment as per approved operating procedures.

2. Monitor turbine parameters, including pressure, temperature, vibration, RPM, lubrication oil pressure, and bearing temperature.

3. Conduct routine field inspections and identify abnormal operating conditions, leakages, unusual noise, and vibration.

4. Monitor and operate steam valves, drains, vents, condensate systems, and other associated equipment.

5. Coordinate with the control room operator for equipment start-up, shutdown, load changes, and operational adjustments.

6. Ensure proper lubrication, cooling, and sealing systems are maintained within prescribed operating limits.

7. Assist in equipment isolation, permit-to-work procedures, and maintenance activities in coordination with the maintenance team.

8. Maintain shift logs, operational readings, equipment checklists, and incident reports.

9. Follow plant safety procedures, PPE requirements,



and emergency response protocols.

10. Support preventive maintenance activities and troubleshoot operational issues to minimise downtime.

Educational Qualification

ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification. Relevant power plant operating experience will be preferred.

Experience & Skills

- 5–6 years of hands-on experience as a Turbine Field Operator in a thermal power plant, captive power plant, or process industry.

- Experience in steam turbine operation and associated auxiliary systems.

- Knowledge of steam systems, pumps, valves, lubrication systems, and condensate systems.

- Ability to identify abnormal equipment conditions and respond promptly.

- Familiarity with shift operations, equipment safety, and permit-to-work systems.

- Valuable coordination, discipline, and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates with experience in captive power plants or process industries, preferably in ethanol, distillery, sugar, or other steam-intensive manufacturing plants.
