Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Chemist with an M.Sc. in Chemistry and practical experience in laboratory testing, sample preparation, instrumental analysis, and material characterization. The candidate should be capable of operating laboratory equipment, conducting tests, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with established testing procedures and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct laboratory testing and analysis of raw materials, coal, and other samples as per established procedures.

2. Operate and maintain laboratory instruments used for sample preparation, physical testing, thermal analysis, and chemical analysis.

3. Perform sample crushing, grinding, sieving, weighing, and preparation for laboratory testing.

4. Conduct proximate and ultimate analysis, calorific value testing, ash fusion temperature analysis, and grindability testing.

5. Record, verify, and maintain laboratory test results, observation sheets, calibration records, and reports.

6. Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results by following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality control practices.

7. Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.

8. Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and laboratory samples.

9. Maintain laboratory housekeeping, safety standards, and equipment maintenance schedules.

10. Coordinate with the Quality Control, Production, and other concerned departments to ensure timely testing and reporting.

11. Ultimate Analyzer (CHNS)

12. Hardgrove Grindability Index (HGI) Instrument

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of laboratory testing methods and analytical chemistry.

- Practical experience in sample preparation and instrumental analysis.

- Ability to interpret test results and identify deviations.

- Positive documentation, reporting, and record-keeping skills.

- Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and chemical handling.

- Attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving ability.

- Ability to work independently and meet testing deadlines.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- M.Sc. in Chemistry from a recognized university.

- Relevant experience in a coal testing, power plant, cement, minerals, or industrial testing laboratory.

- Familiarity with laboratory SOPs, calibration practices, and quality control procedures.

- Experience in coal analysis, including proximate analysis, ultimate analysis, calorific value, ash fusion temperature, and HGI testing, will be an added advantage.
