About the Role

FS University is looking for a dedicated Assistant Professor to join our Department of Agriculture. You will teach, guide practical and field work, mentor students, carry out research, and help build the department’s academic reputation.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching

- Teach undergraduate (BSc Agriculture) and, where applicable, postgraduate (MSc Agriculture) courses
- Handle subjects in your specialisation such as Agronomy, Soil Science, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, or Agricultural Engineering
- Prepare lesson plans, course material, assignments, and exams
- Use contemporary teaching methods, including demonstrations, case studies, and digital tools
- Evaluate students fairly and give regular feedback

Practical, Farm and Field Work

- Conduct and supervise laboratory practicals and field exercises
- Manage and supervise the university farm, nursery, and demonstration plots
- Organise student farm visits, field trips, and rural exposure programmes (RAWE / experiential learning)
- Help maintain lab equipment, farm inputs, and records

Research and Extension

- Carry out original research and publish in reputed, peer-reviewed or UGC-CARE / Scopus-indexed journals
- Present papers at conferences, seminars, and workshops
- Apply for research grants (ICAR, DST, DBT, SERB, UGC, etc.) and guide student projects




- Conduct farmer training programmes, field demonstrations, and extension activities

Student Mentoring

- Mentor students in academics, research, and career planning
- Guide students for competitive exams (ICAR-JRF, ICAR-AIEEA PG, NET, ASRB) and higher studies
- Supervise project work, internships, and agri-clubs

Institution Building

- Help with curriculum design and syllabus updates as per ICAR norms
- Support accreditation and ranking work (NAAC, NIRF, ICAR accreditation)
- Take part in admissions, exam duties, and committees
- Organise seminars, kisan melas, workshops, and guest lectures
- Build links with farmers, KVKs, agri-industry, and government agencies

Qualifications

Required

- Master’s degree (MSc) in Agriculture in a relevant discipline (Agronomy, Soil Science, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Agricultural Economics, Extension, etc.) with good academic record
- Strong subject knowledge and practical field understanding
- Good communication and presentation skills

Preferred

- PhD in Agriculture or allied discipline
- ICAR-NET / ASRB-NET / UGC-NET qualification
- Prior teaching, research, extension, or field experience
- Published research papers
- Experience with farm management, lab techniques, or statistical/GIS software
