Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer with 8–10 years of experience in the conveyor manufacturing industry. The candidate will be responsible for independently handling mechanical design, engineering calculations, detailed drawings, BOM preparation, and design coordination for conveyor systems and bulk material handling equipment.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the mechanical design and development of conveyor systems, including belt conveyors, screw conveyors, bucket elevators, and associated material handling equipment.
- Prepare and review GA drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Perform design calculations related to conveyor capacity, belt speed, drive selection, shaft design, power requirements, and other mechanical components.
- Prepare and verify Bill of Materials (BOM), material specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
- Handle 2D drafting and 3D modelling using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD software.
- Select appropriate materials, bearings, gearboxes, motors, couplings, pulleys, and other mechanical components.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, customer specifications, safety requirements, and manufacturing feasibility.
- Coordinate with Sales/Proposal, Projects, Production, Quality, and Purchase departments to resolve technical and design-related issues.
- Review customer requirements and provide technical inputs during the quotation and proposal stage.
- Conduct design reviews, identify potential design improvements,



and implement cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Manage design revisions, engineering change requests, drawing approvals, and document control.
- Guide junior design engineers and provide technical support to the design team.
- Support production and site teams in resolving fabrication, assembly, installation, and commissioning-related design issues.
- Ensure timely completion of design deliverables as per project schedules.

Required Skills and Competencies

- Strong experience in mechanical design within the conveyor manufacturing or bulk material handling industry.
- Excellent knowledge of belt conveyors, screw conveyors, bucket elevators, and associated equipment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks or equivalent 3D design software.
- Solid understanding of fabrication, welding symbols, GD&T;, machining, sheet metal, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of conveyor design standards, engineering calculations, and mechanical component selection.
- Experience in preparing GA drawings, fabrication drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
- Ability to independently handle multiple projects and meet design deadlines.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and team coordination skills.
- Leadership ability to guide junior engineers and coordinate with cross-functional departments.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- 8–10 years of relevant experience in conveyor design and manufacturing.
- Candidates with hands-on experience in bulk material handling systems and industrial project execution will be preferred.
- Experience in customer drawing approvals, design optimization, and resolving shop-floor technical issues.
- Ability to independently manage design activities from concept development to manufacturing and commissioning support.
