What Youll Be Doing (position summary):

The Senior QA Engineer is responsible for leading test design, execution, and quality assurance across applications and technology platforms. The role applies strong technical expertise and business understanding to analyze requirements, identify risks and impacts, and drive solutions to quality issues. The Senior QA Engineer defines test strategy, translates business requirements into test scenarios and cases, and leads functional integration, regression, and automation testing as appropriate. The role also oversees defect management, test data preparation, and release validation to help ensure reliable system performance. Working with a high degree of judgment and independence, the Senior QA Engineer collaborates with stakeholders to clarify requirements, investigate issues, support timely resolution, and strengthen overall quality practices. This is also a people manager role, with responsibility for leading, coaching, and developing a team of Quality Assurance professionals, setting clear expectations, supporting performance and career growth, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture aligned to CIBCs values. This role is part of CIBC India, our newly established office that supports our U.S. and Canadian businesses through global collaboration, technology expertise and operational excellence.

- Industry and Domain Impact: Apply banking, application, and regulatory knowledge to support sound quality decisions and continuous improvement. Use industry trends and data-driven insights to recommend enhancements to test practices, release quality, and risk management.
- Risk and Compliance: Participate in project-level risk assessments, define and execute quality mitigation plans, and ensure testing supports security, privacy, and compliance requirements. Adhere to applicable policies and regulatory standards, stay current on changes, and partner with Compliance and Audit as needed.
- Stakeholder and Team Management: Work across product, design, operations, and partner teams. Communicate status, risks, and decisions clearly; influence cross-functional outcomes; participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing to raise team standards. Build strong relationships with team members, peers, and U.S. based partners

Experience: 6-8 years of experience

Who You Are (skills/qualifications):

- Degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field or relevant certifications and/or completion of a relevant bootcamp
- 6-8 years of related experience OR Combination of education and experience, ideally within financial services or tech
- Comprehensive knowledge of banking products and services, financial markets, wealth management, trading, and industry regulations; deep understanding of current industry trends and developments; ability to lead initiatives that leverage industry knowledge to drive business improvements




- Leads projects or initiatives with moderate oversight; responsible for project outcomes and task delegation; makes decisions within defined parameters
- Ability to solve tactical problems and ensure project alignment with departmental goals
- Lead risk assessments, develop risk mitigation plans, and ensure compliance with risk management policies
- Lead compliance adherence within their projects; ensure project outcomes adhere to regulatory requirements; stay informed about regulatory changes and their impact on operations; partner with Compliance and Audit teams
- Advanced knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle, testing lifecycle, databases, Oracle, SQL, batch processing, firewalls, FTP, and SFTP
- Deep hands-on experience with manual and automated testing across multiple platforms
- Strong experience with automation testing tools such as Selenium and scalable test solutions
- Extensive experience creating and executing test cases, managing defects, and leading functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing
- Advanced understanding of test automation concepts, object-oriented programming, and scalable quality engineering practices
- Strong working knowledge of JIRA, GitHub, and GitHub Actions for test management, defect tracking, version control, and CI/CD support
- Solid technical understanding of Java and iOS application environments to guide test strategy and quality oversight
- Hands-on experience with Robot Framework or comparable Gherkin-based automation frameworks for scalable test automation
- Ability to lead automation-first QA practices across web, mobile, and API testing
- Experience reviewing test coverage, pipeline quality gates, and release readiness in agile delivery environments
- Strong collaboration skills to work with developers, product owners, and release teams to drive quality outcomes
- Knowledge of and experience with Artificial Intelligence and its practical application in testing or technology solutions
