Job Type: Full-time
RenewCO₂ commercializes electrochemical processes to convert CO₂ emissions into carbon-negative materials. What distinguishes us from other CO₂ reduction approaches is our proprietary catalyst, which enables an energy-efficient and selective pathway to existing valuable commodity chemicals, such as formic acid, ammonia, monoethylene glycol, sustainable aviation fuel, and more. Our products can access existing markets, and our economics are projected to be competitive or advantageous compared to current fossil-based production. We will be in a position to offer differentiated carbon-negative products at competitive prices, thereby having a significant impact on emissions and society. We're seeking highly motivated team leaders and members who want to make a significant positive impact on climate change and are excited to work in a team-oriented team setting. The RenewCO₂ leadership team includes experts in electrochemical catalysis and industrial systems, including Dr. Anders Laursen, Dr. Karin Calvinho, and Dr. Chock Karuppaiah, along with industry leaders such as Arne Ballantine (Founder, Ohmium; former Bloom Energy CEO) and Srushti Parhar (ex-Bloom Energy, software industry veteran). Additional leadership team members bring deep expertise from the chemicals and oil & gas sectors across U.S. and Japanese markets and will actively mentor and support selected candidates.Role OverviewRenewCO2 is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to design and support the build of mechanical systems for CO₂ electrolyzer equipment (electrochemical stack testers, test stations, and prototype systems). The mechanical engineer will develop system layouts, P&IDs;, and SolidWorks designs for cell components, manifolds, piping, and equipment skids, as well as support integration of process equipment into these products. The responsibilities will include performing engineering calculations, defining bills of materials,
and preparing manufacturing drawings – and working hands-on with fabrication vendors and technicians through assembly, testing, and commissioning.Type: Full-time, in person at our office and laboratory in Chikkaballapur (Bengaluru region)Roles and responsibilities:Develop mechanical system concepts, layouts, and equipment designs for CO₂ electrolyzer systems, test stations, and associated process equipmentCreate 3D parts, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorksInterpret and contribute to PFDs and P&IDs;, translating process requirements into mechanical system layouts and defining piping, tubing, equipment, and interface requirementsPerform engineering calculations to support design decisions, component sizing, and evaluation of design optionsDesign mechanical components and assemblies, including electrolyzer cell components, plates, manifolds, enclosures, brackets, panels, frames, supports, fixtures, and equipment skidsPrepare manufacturing drawings with appropriate dimensions, tolerances, materials, and fabrication notesDesign components for sheet metal work, machining, welding, 3D printing, and other relevant manufacturing processesPrepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), equipment specifications, and engineering documentationSupport integration of pumps, valves, regulators, heat exchangers, tanks, piping, tubing, and other process equipment into test systemsApply Design for Manufacturability (DFM), material selection, and reliability considerations to mechanical designsCoordinate with fabrication and machining vendors on manufacturability, component selection,
