1. About the RoleInnovative Engineering Works is looking for a technically skilled Mechanical Design Engineer who has knowledge of CAD software, 3D modelling, mechanical component design, and reverse engineering.

The selected candidate will work remotely on the design and development of industrial machinery, machine components, fabrication drawings, and 3D models. The candidate should be capable of understanding existing machinery, analysing components, preparing engineering drawings, and converting concepts or physical-machine references into accurate CAD models.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. CAD Design and 3D Modelling

- Create 3D models of industrial machinery, assemblies, and individual mechanical components.
- Prepare 2D manufacturing drawings with dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications.
- Develop assembly drawings, exploded views, and detailed component drawings.
- Modify existing designs according to engineering requirements.
- Prepare sheet-metal, fabrication, welding, and machined-part drawings.
- Support the design and development of food-processing and industrial machinery.

B. Reverse Engineering

- Study existing machines, mechanical components, and available technical references.
- Reconstruct 3D models from photographs, sketches, dimensions, physical samples, or reference drawings.
- Identify component geometry, interfaces, dimensions, and assembly arrangements.
- Analyse mechanical assemblies and understand how different components interact.
- Recreate unavailable or outdated drawings wherever sufficient reference information is available.
- Suggest design improvements for manufacturability, maintenance, and ease of assembly.

C. Mechanical Design and Engineering

- Understand machine mechanisms, shafts, bearings, housings, gears, pulleys, belts, chains, and other mechanical components.
- Assist with the selection and design of mechanical components based on application requirements.




- Understand basic engineering calculations related to dimensions, forces, torque, speed, and power transmission.
- Prepare bills of materials (BOMs) and component lists.
- Coordinate with the production and fabrication teams to resolve design-related queries.
- Revise drawings based on manufacturing feedback.

D. Documentation and Project Coordination

- Maintain organised CAD files, engineering drawings, and revision records.
- Submit completed work according to agreed project deadlines.
- Communicate regularly with the engineering team through online meetings, email, and messaging applications.
- Provide progress updates and report technical difficulties promptly.
- Ensure that design files are properly named, organised, and shared.

3. Required Technical SkillsCandidates should have knowledge of the following:

- Mechanical CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Creo, CATIA, or equivalent.
- 3D part modelling and assembly modelling.
- 2D technical drawing preparation.
- Mechanical drafting and dimensioning.
- Reverse engineering of mechanical components.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Basic knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of machine elements such as bearings, shafts, gears, couplings, and gearboxes.
- Understanding of fabrication, welding, machining, and sheet-metal work.

Preferred Additional Skills

- Surface modelling and complex geometry reconstruction.
- Basic FEA or mechanical simulation knowledge.
- Knowledge of GD&T; and engineering tolerances.
- Experience designing industrial machinery or production equipment.
- Familiarity with STEP, IGES, STL, DXF, and DWG file formats.
- Knowledge of basic engineering calculations and component sizing.

Educational QualificationDiploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Candidates with relevant CAD design and practical mechanical experience may also apply.

5. Work-from-Home RequirementsSince this is a remote position, the candidate must have:

- A reliable computer or laptop capable of running CAD software.
- A stable internet connection.
- Access to the required CAD software, subject to the agreed software and licensing arrangements.
- The ability to work independently and manage assigned projects.
- Good communication skills and a disciplined approach to deadlines.
- Availability for online discussions with the engineering and production teams.

The candidate may occasionally need to review physical-machine photographs, videos, measurements, sketches, and reference documents supplied by the company.

- Accuracy of dimensions, assemblies, and BOMs.
- Responsiveness to design changes and technical feedback.
- Organisation of design files and documentation.
- Practical manufacturability of the proposed designs.

8. CompensationSalary / Project Fees: Negotiable based on technical skills, experience, software proficiency, and work arrangement.

Candidates may share sample CAD models, engineering drawings, or a portfolio of previously completed projects during the selection process. Confidential designs from previous employers should not be shared.
