About the role

You will build and enhance consumer-facing Android apps used by millions of patients to refill prescriptions, manage pharmacy and insurance benefits, book clinic visits and track their health. You will work closely with US-based product, design and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

- Design, develop and maintain features using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- Build patient workflows: prescription refill and transfer, order tracking, pharmacy pickup, appointment booking, digital ID cards and benefits views
- Apply modern architecture (MVVM / MVI, Clean Architecture) and dependency injection (Hilt / Dagger)
- Integrate secure REST and GraphQL APIs with OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect and biometric login
- Protect patient data (PHI / PII) on the device: encrypted storage, secure networking, certificate pinning
- Improve stability, performance and crash-free rate using Firebase Crashlytics and profiling tools
- Build accessible screens that meet WCAG 2.1 / ADA standards
- Write unit and UI tests and take part in code reviews
- Work in Agile / Scrum teams and ship through CI/CD to the Play Store

Experience working with Jetpack components (Compose, Architecture Components, Navigation, etc.)

Kotlin

Expert-level Android development using Java and Kotlin

Kotlin Coroutines

Asynchronous and multi-threaded programming with Coroutines (and Flow)

MVVM, MVI and MVP





Solid understanding of modern software architectures

JUnit / Mockito

Experience writing unit tests with JUnit and Mockito

Espresso

UI test automation with Espresso

Network library integration

Knowledge of mobile network communication (OkHttp, Retrofit)

Deployment pipelines

Experience working with Git, Jenkins and CI/CD

Crashlytics tools

Experience with crash and performance tools such as Firebase Crashlytics, New Relic, etc.

Android SDK

Building apps across form factors (mobile, tablet, etc.) and supporting different Android versions

Performance and UI

Exposure to performance tuning, power consumption and Material UI

Dependency injection

Experience with DI frameworks (Dagger, Hilt)

Remote data

Experience working with remote data via JSON

Local storage

Experience with SQLite using Room ORM

Tools

Rally / Jira

Healthcare skills (preferred)

- Experience on a US healthcare, pharmacy, insurance or health-tech app
- Working knowledge of HIPAA and handling of PHI / PII in mobile apps
- Exposure to pharmacy flows (Rx refill, e-prescriptions, prescription status) or insurance flows (member ID cards, claims, advantages)
- FHIR APIs or health data integration (Health Connect, wearables) is a plus

Nice to have
- Modular apps at scale, feature flags, A/B testing
- Mobile security awareness (OWASP Mobile Top 10)
- Experience mentoring junior developers

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field, or equivalent experience.
