About the Role

We are looking for a Quality Checker to inspect granite monuments at every stage, from raw slab to final packing. Nothing should leave the factory unless it meets the buyer's order specifications and our quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Incoming / Raw Material Check

- Inspect blocks and slabs on arrival for cracks, fissures, colour variation, spots, veins and resin filling
- Grade slabs and flag unsuitable material before it goes into productionIn-Process Inspection
- Check cutting sizes, thickness and angles after sawing and shaping
- Inspect polishing stages for gloss, swirl marks, dull patches and edge finish
- Verify that each piece matches the drawing before it moves to engraving

Final Inspection

- Measure every finished piece (die, base, slant, flat marker, vase) against the order sheet in mm/inches and check tolerances
- Check flatness, squareness and level seating between die and base
- Check finish on every face: polished, sawn, rock pitch, flamed, honed
- Check gloss with a gloss meter where buyers specify a level
- Make sure all pieces in a set match in colour and grain
- Proofread engraved and sandblasted lettering: spelling, names, dates, spacing, alignment, depth and paint fill




- Check photos, ceramic plates, artwork and emblems for correct placement

Packing & Dispatch

- Check crate quality, cushioning, strapping and protection of polished faces
- Verify labels, order numbers and piece counts against the packing list
- Supervise container loading and take loading photos

Documentation & Coordination

- Maintain QC checklists, defect logs and photo records for every order and container
- Reject or send pieces for rework with clear written notes, and recheck after correction
- Take part in buyer and third-party inspections and explain QC records
- Report recurring defects to the production supervisor and suggest ways to reduce them

Requirements

- At least 2 years of QC experience in a granite monument or stone processing unit
- Robust knowledge of granite varieties (Black Galaxy, Absolute Black, Imperial Red, Paradiso, etc.) and their typical defects
- Confident with measuring tools: tape, steel rule, try square, vernier caliper, spirit level, gloss meter
- Able to read technical drawings and order sheets accurately
- Good English reading for proofreading inscriptions; Tamil speaking required
- Very strong eye for detail and the confidence to reject substandard work
- ITI / Diploma (Mechanical or Civil) preferred

Preferred

- Experience with export orders for the USA, UK, Europe or Australia
- Familiarity with buyer QC standards and third-party inspection agencies
- Basic marking/layout knowledge
- Basic computer skills (Excel, email, sharing photos and reports)
