About The Department

Franklin Templeton’s Artificial Intelligence Platform and AI Investment Group develops shared data, engineering, and AI capabilities across the company. Its work helps investment professionals and clients adopt advanced analytics safely and quickly. Small, cross-functional agile teams collaborate with product, investment, data, architecture, legal, risk, compliance, and governance partners.

How You Will Add Value?

Core Responsibilities

- You will lead a software engineering squad as a player-coach.
- You will contribute directly to design, coding, reviews, and production support.
- You will own architecture and technical roadmaps for your assigned domain.
- You will convert business priorities into clear, achievable engineering plans.
- You will establish standards for quality, security, performance, and reliability.
- You will oversee delivery, capacity, dependencies, milestones, and risks.

Strategic Responsibilities

- You will guide critical architecture and technical decisions.
- You will lead design and code reviews.
- You will improve delivery predictability, service health, and engineering effectiveness.
- You will define meaningful engineering metrics and operating practices.
- You will lead incident response and systemic issue resolution.




- You will introduce practical AI improvements across engineering workflows.
- You will ensure AI-assisted solutions remain secure, validated, and supportable.

Team & Collaboration

- You will coach engineers through feedback, mentoring, and skills development.
- You will support hiring and performance management activities.
- You will create a collaborative, accountable, and inclusive engineering culture.
- You will remove delivery blockers and coordinate cross-team dependencies.
- You will communicate technical risks and recovery plans clearly.
- You will partner across product, data, architecture, platform, and control functions.

What Will Help You Be Successful in This Role? Experience, Education & Certifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
- Eight or more years of professional software engineering experience.
- Experience delivering backend, distributed, or data-intensive production systems.
- Proven leadership of engineers and complex software initiatives.
- Financial-services or regulated-industry experience is beneficial.

Technical Skills

- Advanced Python, Structured Query Language, microservices, and data-processing expertise.
- Strong software design and enterprise integration capabilities.
- Architecture, technical roadmaps, and automated testing experience.
- Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, containerization, and observability experience.
- Secure coding and production-support expertise.
- Large Language Model applications, AI agents, and model-evaluation experience.
- Cloud platforms, Kubernetes, orchestration, and event-driven systems experience.
