C2W is a one-stop solution provider for supply chain management, manufacturing, quality control, and product development requirements in China and SE Asia.
We are looking for a Junior to Mid-Level Industrial Designer to join our international product development team. Based in our Pune office, you will collaborate daily with teammates in China and our other global offices. This is a full-time (40 hours/week), onsite position.
Before applying, read this posting in full. This role requires a portfolio, a notice period of 30 days or less, an in-person interview at our Pune office, and completing a take-home design test. If any of these does not work for you, please do not apply. Do not waste our time.
Please note
- This is an in-person role based in Pune, India.
- No relocation assistance is provided. You must already be based in Pune. Applications from other cities will not be considered.
- No remote, no hybrid. We don’t have work-from-home policies.
- No students, interns or fresh graduates. Applications from current students or candidates without professional design experience will not be considered.
- This is an urgent hire. We are prioritizing candidates who can join immediately or within 30 days or less.
- Your notice period must be 30 days or less. If your notice period is 45 days or more, do not apply. No exceptions will be made, so please don’t waste your time or ours.
- A portfolio is mandatory. Applications without a portfolio will not be reviewed (see Portfolio Requirements below).
- A design test is a mandatory part of the selection process. Candidates who do not submit the test by the deadline will be disqualified, with no exceptions.
- Do not send connection requests or direct messages on LinkedIn. We will reach out to candidates who are a fit; unsolicited messages will be ignored.
Position Summary
You will work with our senior industrial designer and engineering team across multiple projects, from early concept through to production handoff. The role combines creative concept work (sketching, CMF, rendering) with production-ready CAD and drawings,
working closely with our DFM engineers and our factory teams in China and Southeast Asia.
Selection Process
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to our Pune office for a face-to-face interview, including a walkthrough of your portfolio.
- Candidates who pass the interview will receive a take-home design test: a product design brief covering concept sketches, a 3D CAD model (STEP file), renders and a short presentation of your design decisions. You will have a set deadline, typically several days.
- The test is mandatory. No test, or a late or incomplete submission, means automatic disqualification. Your work must be your own; AI-generated or copied designs will be rejected.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Industrial Designer and engineering team across multiple concurrent projects, from early concept to production handoff.
- Produce explicit 2D outputs (sketches, design boards, CMF specifications, technical illustrations) that communicate ideas and intent.
- Build accurate 3D CAD models for iteration, visualization, DFM/DFA reviews, and pre-tooling alignment.
- Create production-ready technical drawings with correct dimensions, tolerances, GD&T; callouts, exploded views, and BOM references.
- Generate high-quality renderings and simple animations for internal reviews and client presentations.
- Prepare files and documentation for suppliers; track revisions and maintain tidy version control.
- Collaborate with China- and SE Asia–based teams across time zones; join vendor calls and support factory communications when needed.
- Contribute to DFM/DFA and QC reviews to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and aligned with manufacturing processes.
- Keep libraries, templates, and documentation organized; follow internal naming and filing conventions.
- Proactively flag risks, ambiguities, or timeline impacts early.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial / Product Design (or equivalent proven experience).
- 1 to 5 years of hands-on professional experience in industrial or product design (internships alone are not sufficient).
- Proven proficiency in both 2D and 3D:
2D: AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop (Figma or similar a plus)
3D CAD: SolidWorks and/or Fusion 360 (Rhino a plus)
Visualization: KeyShot and/or Blender
- Strong drafting fundamentals: dimensioning standards, tolerances, GD&T;, and basic tolerance stack-ups.
- Working knowledge of DFM/DFA for plastics (injection molding), sheet metal, CNC machining, extrusions, die casting, finishing, and assembly.
- Experience preparing production documentation (drawings, BOM references, supplier packs) and managing revisions.
- Hands-on prototyping skills and comfort interpreting factory feedback, measurement reports, and sample evaluations.
- Organized, self-managed, with exceptional attention to detail; able to multitask and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Strong communication skills; fluent English required, both written and spoken.
Nice to Have
- A creative mindset and passion for concept design.
- Experience working with international clients or factories.
- Familiarity with MS Office (Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel).
Portfolio Requirements
- A portfolio is mandatory: include a link or a single PDF (max ~20 MB) with your application. Applications without a portfolio will not be reviewed.
- Show your end-to-end process on real projects: research → concepts → CAD → drawings/DFM → prototype or production.
- Include your own work and state your role clearly on team projects.
Important Application Notice
We value genuine, thoughtful applications. Submissions generated by AI tools will be detected and rejected. We are looking for real humans with real experience, not generic buzzword-filled CVs.
You’d be surprised how often this happens, please don’t waste your time or ours.
