About StepwhereStepwhere is a hardware and IoT startup building smart school shoes for children. Our shoes integrate GPS tracking, cellular connectivity, motion sensors, and embedded electronics into everyday school footwear, helping parents stay connected to their children's daily activities.

We are moving into active hardware production and are looking for an enthusiastic Embedded Hardware Engineer Intern who wants hands-on experience building real-world electronic products.

About the InternshipThis is not a typical research or classroom-based internship.

Over the next three months, you will work closely with our engineering and production team to understand how an embedded hardware product moves from a tested PCB to a fully assembled, quality-checked, customer-ready device.

You will gain practical exposure to hardware preparation, electronics assembly, production testing, troubleshooting, quality assurance, and manufacturing challenges.

Key Responsibilities1. Hardware Preparation & Assembly

- Prepare PCB assemblies (PCBAs), electronic components, batteries, antennas, and connectors for production.
- Assist in assembling embedded electronic modules into compact product enclosures.
- Understand component placement, wiring, soldering, and hardware integration.
- Learn practical techniques for integrating electronics into space-constrained wearable products.

2. Hardware Testing & Quality Assurance

- Perform device-level testing using our existing backend-based QA system.
- Test connectivity, GPS/GNSS, charging, battery performance, and sensor functionality.
- Identify faulty components, connection issues, and assembly-related defects.

- Maintain device testing records, hardware IDs, and quality checklists.

3. Production Engineering & Troubleshooting

- Work with engineers to identify and resolve production-stage hardware problems.
- Understand manufacturing challenges such as component failures, assembly inconsistencies, waterproofing, and physical durability.
- Support troubleshooting, rework, and retesting of faulty units.
- Help improve production reliability and consistency.

4. Production Documentation & Process Improvement

- Maintain hardware assembly and testing documentation.
- Assist with component inventory tracking and production records.
- Learn how standard operating procedures (SOPs) are developed for hardware manufacturing.
- Identify opportunities to reduce assembly errors and improve production efficiency.

Skills We're Looking For
- Basic understanding of electronics, circuits, and PCB components.
- Familiarity with microcontrollers such as STM32, Arduino, or ESP32.
- Basic knowledge of embedded systems and hardware interfaces.
- Ability to understand circuit diagrams and hardware connections.
- Interest in hands-on electronics assembly, debugging, and manufacturing.
- Willingness to learn, experiment, and solve practical engineering problems.

Good to Have (Not Mandatory)

- Basic Embedded C programming.
- Familiarity with UART, SPI, or I2C communication.
- Experience using a multimeter, soldering station, or other electronics testing equipment.
- Knowledge of GPS, GSM, IoT,

or battery-powered devices.
- Experience with personal electronics projects or hardware prototypes.

What You'll LearnBy the end of the internship, you will have practical exposure to:
- How embedded electronics are prepared for production.
- How PCBAs are integrated into finished consumer products.
- How production testing and hardware quality control work.
- How engineers diagnose and resolve real manufacturing defects.
- How hardware design decisions affect assembly, cost, reliability, and scalability.
- How a hardware startup manages the transition from prototypes to commercial production.

Who Can Apply?
- Students pursuing or recently completing B.Tech, B.E., or Diploma in Electronics, ECE, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related disciplines.
- Freshers interested in embedded hardware and electronics manufacturing.
- Candidates who enjoy working with actual hardware rather than only simulation or theoretical concepts.
- Candidates available to work on-site in Jaipur for three months.

Why Join Stepwhere? At Stepwhere, you won't be limited to observing engineers or completing isolated academic assignments. You'll work alongside the team building and preparing real IoT devices for customers, gain exposure to the challenges of hardware production, and understand what it takes to manufacture an embedded consumer product at scale.

If you're passionate about electronics and want to learn how real hardware products are built, tested, and manufactured, we'd love to hear from you.

How to ApplySend your resume along with details of any electronics, embedded systems, or hardware projects you have worked on.
