The BOCAD Draftsman will be responsible for preparing 3D models, structural drawings, shop drawings,
and fabrication details for transmission line towers and related structures using BOCAD software. The role requires strong technical drafting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with engineering and production teams to ensure accurate and timely deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain 3D models of transmission line towers and related structures using
BOCAD software.
- Prepare detailed structural drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication drawings based on approved design inputs from BOCAD Software.
- Generate Bill of Materials and verify material quantities from BOCAD models.
- Ensure accuracy of member detailing, bolt arrangements, hole positions, and grip lengths as per structural requirements.
- Conduct thorough checking of drawings and models against structural drawings and project specifications.
- Coordinate with design engineers, project teams, fabrication units, and quality teams for drawing clarifications and revisions.
- Implement standard detailing practices and ensure compliance with client requirements and applicable standards.
- Support proto assembly activities by resolving model and drawing-related issues.
- Maintain proper revision control and documentation for all released drawings and models.
- Optimize the use of BOCAD features to improve automation, reduce manual intervention, and enhance drafting efficiency.
- Monitor drawing schedules and ensure timely submission and release of drawings.
- Assist in training junior draftsmen and support continuous process improvement activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience in BOCAD software for transmission tower detailing and modeling.
- Positive knowledge of structural steel detailing, fabrication drawings, and transmission line tower components.
- Understanding of BOM preparation, member checking, and shop detailing processes.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and other drafting tools will be an added advantage.
