Software has entered an era where humans and AI build side by side. As this shift accelerates, the definition of strong technical talent is changing. As an Engineering Manager on the Assessment Platform team, you will lead the technical vision and execution for the systems that power the assessments on HackerRank. This includes giving candidates the ability to work on a real world application running on dedicated VMs with an online ADE built by HackerRank. You will also partner with product teams across HackerRank to embed these solutions into every product, drive the team's roadmap, and build a high-performing, growth-oriented team that delivers scalable, resilient systems.
Own delivery commitments and run the team's day-to-day execution using agile practices.
Define how the team uses AI tools in development to improve quality and speed.
8+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years leading engineering teams.





- Robust experience designing highly available, scalable, fault-tolerant, secure distributed systems and large-scale web services.
- Hands-on proficiency in at least one of Go, Python, Ruby or Node.js
- Strong hands-on proficiency in at least one of AWS or GCP.
- Experience building or scaling cloud IDEs, remote dev environments, or online coding platforms, with a developer-first mindset.

Hands-on depth in containers, Kubernetes, and on-demand VM or sandboxed compute at scale.
A track record of load testing, autoscaling, and capacity planning for spiky, event-driven traffic.
Experience driving AI-assisted development practices across an engineering team.
Think strategically about long-term platform scalability while delivering short-term results.
