Program Intern (Field Operations), Delhi NCR

Location: Delhi NCR only

Type: Intern · On-campus field recording

About the programme and the role

We are building speech datasets that capture how India actually speaks, recorded from real people in real conditions, not in a studio. The Program Intern runs the Delhi NCR field recording operation on the ground: finding speakers, organising recording sessions, making sure the audio is usable, and keeping every target on track.

This is a hands-on, on-ground internship. You will spend most of your time outside the office, on college and university campuses across Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad, working directly with contributors and with the data and research team.

This role is open to candidates who live in Delhi NCR only, because the work is daily in-person fieldwork and we cannot support relocation or remote working for it.

What you will do

1. Plan the recording schedule. Build a weekly plan of recording sessions by area, language and speaker group, and get campus permissions, confirm venues, timings and student contributors in advance.
2. Recruit and onboard contributors. Find native speakers of the required languages and age and gender mix from students on campus, working with college departments, clubs and societies. Explain the task, take consent and verify eligibility.
3. Run recording sessions on campus. Choose quiet rooms on campus, set up devices and the recording app, brief contributors, supervise each session and handle noise, battery, storage and connectivity problems on the spot.
4. Check quality every day. Review recordings for explicit audio,

correct content and complete metadata. Flag and redo rejected recordings before contributors leave or on the same day.
5. Track targets. Maintain a daily tracker of hours recorded, speakers covered and accepted recordings against the target for each language and speaker group, and raise gaps early.
6. Manage contributor payouts and records. Keep attendance, consent forms and payout records accurate and up to date.
7. Coordinate with the team. Report daily to the programme lead, pass quality feedback to the data team and send the weekly status update.

In a typical week, you might:
- Spend a day on a campus recruiting students and running back-to-back recording sessions
- Fix a failed session by re-recording the same day
- Update the tracker and spot that one language group is behind target
- Send the weekly status report with hours recorded, acceptance rate and next week's plan

What matters most

You will be measured on three outcomes:

- Volume. Hours recorded and speakers covered at or above the weekly target, with the right mix of languages, ages and genders.
- Quality. A high share of recordings accepted on first review, with a falling re-record rate week over week.
- Reliability. Sessions that happen on schedule, trackers that are accurate every day,

and consent and payout records that are complete. Report exactly what was done, never more.

Who we are looking for

Required

- Based in Delhi NCR and able to travel daily across the region for fieldwork
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in any discipline (management, social work, linguistics, communication or similar is a plus)
- Fluent in Hindi and English; knowing another Indian language (Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Haryanvi, Maithili, Bengali or similar) is a strong plus
- Comfortable approaching students and faculty, explaining a task clearly and building trust quickly
- Organised and detail-oriented: you keep trackers accurate and finish what you start
- Comfortable with Excel or Google Sheets and with using a smartphone app and recording devices
- Able to commit to the full internship duration, with flexibility for field hours

Good to have

- Experience in field surveys, events, campus ambassador programmes, data collection or operations
- Interest in AI, speech or language technology
- Own two-wheeler or comfort with Delhi NCR public transport

Working conditions

- On-campus work in Delhi NCR on most working days, planned around class timings and exam schedules, with occasional weekend sessions

What you get

- Direct ownership of a real data operation from day one
- Hands-on experience in programme management, field operations and data quality
- Mentorship from the programme lead and exposure to the speech AI team
- Certificate on completion, and a chance of a full-time offer based on performance
