Reporting To: Head of Manufacturing / Plant Head

1. Job Summary

The Manager – Production (BESS) will be responsible for managing end-to-end manufacturing operations for Battery Energy Storage Systems and/or lithium-ion battery packs. The role involves production planning, manpower management, process optimization, quality assurance, safety compliance, and achieving production targets while ensuring operational efficiency, cost control, and timely delivery.

2. Key Responsibilities

- Production Planning & Execution
- Plan, schedule, and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production activities in line with business requirements.
- Ensure achievement of production targets, throughput, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor production KPIs, including OEE, productivity, rejection rate, cycle time, and yield.

- BESS Manufacturing Operations

- Manage production activities related to battery module and pack assembly, BESS integration, electrical connections, and system assembly, as applicable.
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process parameters.
- Coordinate with engineering teams for new product introduction, prototype builds, and pilot production.

- Quality Management

- Work closely with Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams to minimize defects and improve first-pass yield.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, inspection plans, traceability requirements,



and customer specifications.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for production-related issues.

- Manpower & Team Management

- Lead and develop production engineers, supervisors, technicians, and operators.
- Manage manpower planning, shift scheduling, training, and performance evaluation.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and a continuous improvement culture.

- Process Improvement & Cost Optimization

- Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and other productivity improvement initiatives.
- Identify bottlenecks and reduce downtime, material wastage, rework, and manufacturing costs.
- Improve line balancing, equipment utilization, and overall production efficiency.

- Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with EHS policies and industrial safety procedures.
- Implement secure handling and storage practices for lithium-ion batteries and associated materials.
- Ensure adherence to electrical safety, fire safety, and emergency response procedures.

- Cross-Functional Coordination

- Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning, R&D;, and Engineering teams.
- Ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, tools, and production equipment.
- Support customer audits, internal audits, and manufacturing process assessments.

- Reporting & Documentation

- Prepare daily production reports, MIS, capacity utilization reports, and KPI dashboards.
- Maintain production records,



traceability documentation, and process compliance records.
- Report production performance, issues, and improvement plans to management.

3. Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of BESS manufacturing, battery pack assembly, or lithium-ion battery production.
- Experience in production planning, execution, and shop-floor management.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, OEE, Six Sigma, 5S, and root cause analysis.
- Understanding of electrical and mechanical assembly processes.
- Strong leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP/MRP systems, and production reporting.
- Ability to manage production targets, quality standards, cost, and delivery timelines.

4. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Achievement of monthly production targets.
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and equipment utilization.
- First-pass yield and reduction in rejection/rework rates.
- On-time production completion and delivery performance.
- Reduction in manufacturing costs and material wastage.
- Downtime reduction and productivity improvement.
- Safety compliance and reduction in workplace incidents.
- Manpower productivity and adherence to production schedules.

5. Preferred Experience
- Experience in lithium-ion battery manufacturing, battery module and pack assembly, or BESS system integration.
- Exposure to automated production lines, testing processes, and manufacturing quality systems.
- Experience in new plant setup, capacity expansion, line commissioning, or process industrialization will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with battery safety, electrical testing, Battery Management Systems (BMS), and Energy Management Systems (EMS) is desirable, depending on the manufacturing scope.
