Job Description: SQL Developer – Mutual Fund / Capital Markets

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced SQL Developer with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL programming, complex query development, and database performance optimization. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing database objects and handling complex data processing requirements.

Experience in the Mutual Fund or Capital Markets domain will be highly preferred, particularly in financial systems, transaction processing, data reconciliation, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, maintain, and optimize SQL Server database schemas and database objects.
- Develop and maintain complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, SQL Jobs, and scripts.
- Perform query optimization and database performance tuning to improve execution speed and efficiency.
- Analyze execution plans, implement indexing strategies, and work with partitioning and performance monitoring.
- Review existing SQL queries and identify performance bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
- Perform data extraction, transformation, migration, data porting, and data processing activities.
- Translate business and financial reporting requirements into effective SQL and database solutions.
- Troubleshoot database issues and provide timely resolutions.
- Support production and UAT environments for database-related issues.
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and migration activities while ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain database security, data integrity, and compliance with established standards.
- Collaborate with application developers, business analysts, QA teams, and other stakeholders.




- Take ownership of assigned tasks and deliver solutions independently.

Required Technical Skills

- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
- Strong hands-on experience with stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and SQL Server Jobs.
- Proven expertise in developing simple, medium, and complex SQL queries.
- Strong experience in complex data manipulation and data processing.
- Expertise in SQL query performance tuning and optimization.
- Hands-on knowledge of indexing, execution plan analysis, partitioning, and performance monitoring.
- Ability to analyze, debug, and optimize existing SQL queries.
- Solid database troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of code versioning and version control systems.
- Knowledge of database security standards and best practices.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools will be an added advantage.

Domain Knowledge

- Good understanding of the Mutual Fund domain is preferred.
- Experience with Capital Markets data platforms and financial systems will be an advantage.
- Understanding of financial transactions, business processes, data reconciliation, and financial reporting requirements is desirable.

Educational Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications or advanced qualifications will be an added advantage.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- 10+ years of relevant experience in SQL Server development.
- Strong technical expertise in T-SQL development and database optimization.
- Ability to work independently and manage complex database requirements.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills.
- Candidates with relevant Mutual Fund or Capital Markets experience will be preferred.
