About the role

We are looking for a hands-on Designer to work across contemporary Western wear for Seams Friendly and Indian ethnic wear for Utsav Fashion. This role combines design development with substantial work on pattern grading, measurements, fit and garment construction. You will work closely with the design and production teams to turn designs and customer requirements into clear, accurate instructions and well-constructed garments.

Key responsibilities

- Grade patterns and prepare measurement sheets

Work on size-wise pattern grading, maintaining the intended fit, proportions and design details across sizes. Prepare and check grading sheets and order-specific measurements.

- Support garment construction

Work with pattern masters and tailors on patterns, cutting, stitching and finishing methods. Identify construction challenges and help resolve them during sampling and production.

- Handle customer customizations

Translate measurement and design requests into accurate specifications. Check that changes to length, sleeves, neckline, fit and other details are clearly documented and correctly executed.

- Prepare clear production instructions

Create and update sketches, technical specifications, measurement charts and reference images. Clearly label construction details so the production team can follow them without ambiguity.

- Check samples and fit

Review samples and garments against approved designs and measurements. Identify fit or construction issues, document corrections and follow through until they are resolved.

- Develop designs across both brands

Support research, sketches, fabric selection and design development for Indian ethnic and Western wear, following the design team’s briefs.

- Maintain accurate design records

Keep specifications, grading sheets and customization records organized and current.



Record approved changes and recurring issues to help prevent repeat errors.

- Coordinate with production

Resolve unclear instructions and technical queries promptly, communicate changes clearly, and complete assigned work within production deadlines.

Essential skills and requirements

- Fashion degree.
- Practical knowledge of pattern making, pattern grading, garment construction and fit.
- Ability to work accurately with body measurements, garment measurements, size charts and measurement calculations.
- Understanding of fabric behaviour, ease, seam allowances, proportions and how design changes affect fit and construction.
- Ability to read and prepare garment sketches, measurement sheets and technical specifications.
- Comfortable using a computer, including Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, for measurement records, grading sheets and production documentation.
- Ability to read and understand English instructions and write clear notes in English.
- Transparent communication skills and the ability to explain technical details to pattern masters and tailors.
- Solid attention to detail, organization and willingness to check work carefully before handing it over.
- Reliability, punctuality and ownership of assigned tasks, with openness to feedback and learning.

Good to have

- Experience working with both Indian ethnic and Western wear.
- Experience with made-to-order, made-to-measure or customized garments.
- A portfolio showing design work, technical sketches, constructed garments or grading work.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
