Role

We are looking for an experienced Veterinarian / Veterinary Nutritionist / Animal Nutritionist to support the development of veterinary-based, issue-specific and condition-specific pet food formulations for dogs and cats.

The consultant will be responsible for providing veterinary and nutritional expertise in formulation development, feeding trials, clinical evaluation, scientific validation, and ethical review of animal trials.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and review veterinary-based and condition-specific pet food formulations.
- Provide scientific guidance on ingredients, nutrient levels, functional ingredients, and formulation rationale.
- Design, review, and evaluate feeding and nutritional trials.
- Assess palatability, digestibility, tolerance, clinical observations, and trial outcomes.
- Interpret trial results and recommend formulation improvements.
- Support scientific substantiation of nutritional and veterinary claims.
- Prepare/review formulation briefs, trial protocols, technical reports, and scientific documentation.
- Participate in an independent ethical/scientific committee for animal feeding trials.
- Review trial protocols from the perspective of animal welfare, scientific validity, and ethical compliance.
- Identify potential nutritional, clinical, and safety concerns associated with formulations.
- Maintain scientific independence and disclose potential conflicts of interest.

Education Background

Required:

- BVSc / DVM / Veterinary Medicine or equivalent

Preferred:

- Master's / PhD in Veterinary Nutrition, Animal Nutrition, Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Animal Science, or related discipline.

Candidates with a Veterinary Pathology background may also be considered if they have relevant experience in pet food R&D;, nutrition, feeding trials, toxicology, ingredient safety, or clinical evaluation.

Strong Experience In

Candidates should ideally have robust hands-on experience in one or more of the following:

- Pet food formulation and R&D;
- Veterinary or therapeutic diets
- Companion-animal nutrition
- Issue-based / condition-specific formulations
- Canine and feline clinical nutrition
- Feeding and palatability trials
- Digestibility and nutritional studies
