Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager – Production to oversee and lead end-to-end manufacturing operations at our facility in Sanand. The ideal candidate will have extensive technical expertise in low-tonnage press shops, tool room development, cold forging, and vacuum furnace operations. You will be responsible for driving batch production efficiency, embedding ISO 9001 quality systems, establishing robust operational processes, and mentoring a high-performing technical team.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Production Management

- Batch Production Control: Oversee day-to-day batch manufacturing operations, ensuring optimal capacity utilization, minimal downtime, and strict adherence to production schedules.

- Process Mastery: Direct and optimize multi-process manufacturing operations, including:

- Low-Tonnage Press Shop: Stamping and precision sheet metal component manufacturing.

- Cold Forging: High-precision metal forming and cold heading operations.

- Vacuum Furnace: Heat treatment processes, braze/sintering, and surface engineering.

- Tool Room Oversight: Lead the in-house tool room for press tool development, die maintenance, jig & fixture design, and lifecycle management.

Systems, Processes & Quality Standards

- Systems Setup: Design, establish, and standardize core operational workflows, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and production tracking systems.

- ISO 9001 Compliance: Ensure full adherence to ISO 9001 standards, lead internal audits, drive corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and build a zero-defect quality culture.

- Operational Excellence: Deploy Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen,



and Value Stream Mapping to eliminate waste and continuously improve yield rates.

Team Leadership & Development

- Team Handling: Lead and direct cross-functional plant teams including production engineers, toolmakers, metallurgists, supervisors, and shop floor technicians.

- Capability Building: Mentoring and developing middle management, identifying skill gaps, and establishing structured technical training programs.

- Labor & Resource Management: Optimize manpower planning, maintain shop floor discipline, and foster a safe, collaborative working workplace.

Strategic Planning & Resource Optimization

- Budget & Cost Control: Prepare and manage annual operating budgets (OPEX/CAPEX), driving cost reduction initiatives in material usage, scrap rate, and energy consumption.

- Supply Chain & Maintenance Coordination: Work closely with procurement, maintenance, and quality teams to maintain seamless raw material flows and machine uptime.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

- Education: B.Tech or B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.

- Experience: 15 to 25 years of hands-on experience in precision mechanical/electrical components manufacturing.

- Location Experience: Prior exposure to manufacturing operations in the Sanand or Gujarat industrial belt is preferred.

Technical & Functional Competencies

- Proven experience managing low-tonnage stamping/press shops and tool room press tool design/development.

- Direct technical understanding of cold forging processes and vacuum furnace heat treatment systems.

- Deep working knowledge of batch production planning and scheduling.

- Demonstrated track record of implementing ISO 9001 frameworks and setting up manufacturing processes from scratch or upgrading existing systems.

Behavioral & Leadership Skills

- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a proven track record of handling teams of 100+ personnel.

- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills (8D, Root Cause Analysis).

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
