Position : Engineer / Sr Engineer - Vendor Development

Role & responsibilities

- Identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and manufacturing capability requirements.
- Conduct supplier audits, process capability studies, and vendor assessments to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Assess supplier expertise in machining, casting, forging, fabrication, assembly, and related manufacturing processes.
- Review Engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T;, material requirements, and customer-specific requirements.
- Evaluate supplier capability against component tolerances and process requirements.
- Assess CNC machines, tooling, fixtures, gauges, inspection equipment, and manufacturing processes. CNC Turning / CNC Milling / VMC / HMC
- Drive supplier quality improvement initiatives to achieve quality, delivery, and productivity targets.
- Resolve supplier issues related to drawings, specifications, process changes, and product quality.
- Coordinate supplier development activities for new products and engineering changes.
- Support RFQ and technical feasibility evaluation.
- Coordinate prototype, sample, and pilot production development.
- Develop and maintain supplier performance scorecards and conduct periodic supplier reviews.
- Conduct cost analysis of machined components.
- Benchmark supplier prices and manufacturing costs.
- Analyse: Material cost, Machine-hour cost, Cycle time, Tooling cost, Setup cost, Labour cost, Overheads, Rejection / rework, Secondary process costs
- Work closely with suppliers to improve Productivity, Cycle time, Yield, OEE, Tool life, Material utilization, Machine capacity, Rejection and rework
- Drive continuous improvement projects with key suppliers.
- Promote automation, poka-yoke, process optimization, and lean manufacturing practices.
- Work with Supplier Quality / Quality Assurance teams to resolve supplier quality issues.
- Monitor supplier rejection, PPM, rework, customer complaints,



and corrective actions.
- Use tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, SPC, MSA, and Pareto analysis for problem solving.
- Ensure effective implementation and closure of corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in supplier quality audits and periodic supplier evaluations.

Required Technical Competencies

- Robust knowledge of precision machining processes.
- Good understanding of CNC turning, milling, VMC, HMC, grinding, and related processes.
- Knowledge of CNC machine capabilities and process parameters.
- Understanding of cutting tools, tool life, tooling selection, and machining economics.
- Good knowledge of GD&T; and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of measurement systems and precision inspection.
- Understanding of CMM, height gauge, profile projector, bore gauge, roundness, surface roughness, etc.
- Knowledge of materials commonly used in precision engineering.
- Understanding of heat treatment and surface treatment processes.
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, and SPC is desirable.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / Kaizen
- Ability to perform technical and cost feasibility studies.

Desired Candidate Profile

- BE/ B.Tech/ Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
- 7-13 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Vendor Development, or Manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of machining, casting, forging, fabrication, assembly, and quality systems.
