2. Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Engineer – Estimation (Water Supply / Sewerage) to support the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for water supply schemes, sewerage networks, sewage treatment plants (STPs), water treatment plants (WTPs), pumping stations, and associated infrastructure.

The candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed quantity estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost estimates, rate analysis, and financial estimates based on engineering drawings, design calculations, project specifications, and applicable Schedule of Rates (SOR). The role involves coordination with civil, mechanical, process, and hydraulic design teams to ensure accurate and comprehensive project costing.

4. Key Roles and Responsibilities

● Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, BOQs, and cost estimates for water supply and sewerage infrastructure projects.

● Estimate quantities for pipelines, excavation, backfilling, bedding, thrust blocks, chambers, manholes, valves, fittings, and associated civil works.

● Prepare estimates for water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs, overhead tanks, and related infrastructure.

● Calculate quantities for mechanical equipment, pumps, motors, valves, piping, and associated accessories in coordination with the mechanical design team.

● Prepare item-wise cost estimates based on applicable Schedule of Rates (SOR), market rates, vendor quotations, and project-specific specifications.

● Carry out rate analysis for items not covered under standard SORs.

● Prepare cost summaries, abstract estimates, and detailed project cost estimates for incorporation into DPRs.

● Estimate costs for supply, installation, testing, commissioning, transportation, and other applicable project components.

● Assess provisions for contingencies, taxes, duties, and other applicable cost components in accordance with project requirements.

● Refer to applicable CPWD, State PWD, municipal, PHED, or other relevant Schedule of Rates, as specified by the client.

● Prepare rate analysis for non-schedule items using current market rates, labour rates, material rates, and equipment costs.

● Obtain and evaluate vendor quotations for pipes, fittings, valves, pumps, and other equipment.

● Maintain supporting calculations, rate analysis sheets, quotation records, and cost assumptions.

● Prepare Excel-based estimation sheets, abstract cost statements, and comparative cost analyses.





● Review quantities and cost calculations for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

● Incorporate applicable project-specific taxes, duties, transportation, and installation charges in accordance with the estimation basis.

5. Educational Qualifications

● BE / B.Tech in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university or institution.

● Candidates with additional training in quantity surveying, estimation, costing, or infrastructure project management will be preferred.

6. Experience and Technical Skills

● Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in estimation, costing, BOQ preparation, or quantity surveying for water supply, sewerage, wastewater, or infrastructure projects.

● Experience in preparing cost estimates and BOQs for DPRs, tender documents, or detailed engineering assignments is preferred.

● Practical knowledge of pipeline quantity estimation, civil works measurement, rate analysis, and project costing.

● Exposure to government infrastructure projects and applicable SOR-based estimation is desirable.
