JOB DESCRIPTION – PRODUCTION ENGINEER

Department: Production

1. Job Purpose

To manage and monitor daily production activities, achieve production targets, maintain product quality, optimize manpower utilization, and ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing operations in the sheet metal production department.

2. Key Roles and Responsibilities

Production Planning and Execution

- Monitor daily production activities and ensure achievement of production targets as per the production schedule.

- Ensure smooth execution of manufacturing operations and minimize production downtime.

- Monitor production output, cycle time, and machine utilization.

- Ensure proper utilization of manpower, machines, tools, and materials.

Process and Quality Control

- Ensure production activities are carried out as per approved process standards and work instructions.

- Coordinate with the Quality Department to resolve quality issues and reduce rejection and rework.

- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.

- Maintain process discipline and ensure adherence to production procedures.

Manpower and Shop-Floor Management

- Allocate work to operators and helpers according to production requirements.

- Monitor employee attendance, productivity, and performance on the shop floor.

- Guide operators to ensure efficient working practices and achievement of production targets.

- Coordinate with Maintenance for timely resolution of machine breakdowns.

Safety and Continuous Improvement

- Ensure implementation of 5S, housekeeping, and workplace safety practices.

- Identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce wastage.

- Monitor production losses, downtime, and material consumption.

- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency.

Coordination and Reporting

- Coordinate with PPC, Quality, Maintenance,



and other departments for smooth production operations.

- Maintain daily production reports, downtime records, rejection reports, and other required documentation.

- Report production performance, issues, and corrective actions to the Production Manager / HOD.

- Ensure timely completion of assigned production activities.

3. Educational Qualification

- B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

4. Experience and Technical Skills

- Experience: 1–4 years in production or manufacturing operations.

- Experience in the sheet metal manufacturing industry is preferred.

- Basic knowledge of sheet metal processes, machines, and manufacturing operations.

- Knowledge of production planning, process control, and productivity improvement.

- Understanding of 5S, workplace safety, and quality standards.

- Good communication, problem-solving, coordination, and shop-floor management skills.

5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Achievement of daily and monthly production targets.

- Improvement in production efficiency and machine utilization.

- Reduction in rejection, rework, and material wastage.

- Reduction in machine downtime and production losses.

- Effective manpower utilization.

- Compliance with 5S, safety, and quality requirements.

6. Reporting Structure

Reports To: Production Manager / Production HOD

7. Salary and Compensation

- Salary: ₹18,000–₹20,000 per month.

- Salary will be offered based on the candidate’s experience, technical skills, and interview performance.

Work Location: In person –Dera Bassi, Punjab.

Note: The Production Engineer is responsible for ensuring smooth production operations, achieving assigned targets, maintaining quality standards, and promoting a secure and efficient shop-floor environment.
