- Precision Design & CAD Modeling: Translate product and tooling requirements into accurate 2D/3D models using software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks. Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T;) symbols.
- Tool Room Implementation & Machining: Supervise or hands-on execute the fabrication, fitting, and assembly of progressive dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures using conventional and CNC/VMC/EDM machinery.
- Quality & Metrology Verification: Inspect machined components using precision measuring tools such as Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), profile projectors, micrometers, and height gauges to ensure micron-level tolerances.
- Maintenance & Breakdown Resolution: Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for dies and molds based on shot or stroke counts.
Troubleshoot sudden tool breakdowns on the shop floor to restore continuous operations.
- Tool Trials & Iterative Rework: Lead tool trials alongside production and quality assurance teams, analyzing failure points and modifying design, materials, or heat treatments to extend tool life.
- Inventory & Documentation: Maintain tool history cards, track spare parts, manage consumable reorder levels (e.g., inserts, electrodes, EDM wire), and generate audit-ready reports.
