Key Responsibilities

1. Sourcing and Supplier Management

* Find and develop new suppliers in China and other countries for fabrics, aluminium profiles, wooden slats and hardware.

* Manage and strengthen relationships with existing suppliers.

* Regularly check supplier quality, delivery and reliability.

* Reduce dependence on a few suppliers by building backup options.

* Visit trade fairs and suppliers when needed.

2. Negotiation and Cost Control

* Negotiate prices, payment terms, credit period and minimum order quantities.

* Get the best landed cost (product price + freight + duty + other charges).

* Track market prices and raw material trends, and act early.

* Keep purchase costs low without hurting quality.

3. Import and Logistics

* Plan and place import orders, and follow them up until delivery.

* Work with freight forwarders, CHA (customs agents) and shipping lines.

* Make sure all import documents are correct (invoice, packing list, bill of lading, etc.).

* Handle customs duty, HS codes and import compliance with the accounts team.

* Manage currency risk (USD/INR) together with the finance team.

4. Inventory and Planning

* Plan purchases based on sales demand and stock levels.

* Avoid both stock-outs and dead stock.

* Work closely with the sales team to know what customers need.

* Decide the right order quantity and timing.

5. Quality Control

* Set quality standards for every product.

* Handle samples, approvals and quality complaints.

* Take up claims and replacements with suppliers.

6. Team and Reporting





* Build and lead the purchase team.

* Prepare regular reports on purchases, costs, supplier performance and stock.

* Support the Director in major buying decisions.

Required Qualifications and Experience

* Graduate in any stream. MBA or a degree in supply chain or operations is preferred.

* 8 to 12 years of experience in purchase or sourcing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

* Strong experience in importing from China is a must.

* Experience in a trading or manufacturing company is preferred.

* Experience in window blinds, fabrics, aluminium, hardware or the home furnishing industry is a big plus.

Skills Required

* Strong negotiation skills

* Good knowledge of import procedures, customs and international payment terms

* Ability to understand costing and margins

* Valuable with Excel and ERP or inventory software

* Good communication in English and Hindi (Chinese or Mandarin basics are a bonus)

* Honest, reliable and able to take decisions on their own

* Good at leading a team and working with other departments

What Success Looks Like (First 12 Months)

* Lower overall purchase cost without losing quality

* At least a few new reliable suppliers added

* Better stock planning, with less dead stock and fewer stock-outs

* Smooth and timely import deliveries

* A clear, written purchase process for the company
