Job Description
Sitaram Ayurveda (P) Limited is looking for a detail-oriented and 2-3 years Botanist – Quality Control to join our Quality Control team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for botanical identification and authentication, phytochemical and analytical testing, raw material evaluation, and maintaining quality documentation in compliance with applicable quality standards and regulatory requirements. The candidate should have a solid understanding of medicinal plants, herbal raw materials, botanical microscopy, and quality control practices in the Ayurvedic or herbal industry.

Key Responsibilities
1. Botanical Identification & Authentication
- Perform organoleptic, macroscopic, microscopic, anatomical, and powder microscopy examinations for the authentication of medicinal plant materials.
- Prepare and maintain herbarium specimens and permanent microscopic slides.
- Verify the identity of raw materials in accordance with approved standards and pharmacopoeial requirements. 2. Phytochemical & Analytical Testing
- Perform phytochemical, physicochemical, TLC, HPTLC, and residue analyses as per approved test procedures.
- Determine melting point, optical rotation, volatile oil content, chlorophyll content, and other botanical quality parameters.
- Compare external samples, extracts, and raw materials against approved in-house standards. 3. Raw Material & Packing Material Evaluation
- Inspect and verify raw materials and packing materials against approved specifications.
- Prepare and maintain specifications for raw materials (RM) and packing materials (PM).




- Perform approval tagging and support material release activities. 4. Documentation & Regulatory Compliance
- Prepare Certificates of Analysis (COA), non-API monographs, Schedule TA documents, and other technical records.
- Maintain WHO-GMP and Quality Management System (QMS) documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), regulatory guidelines, and Good Documentation Practices (GDP). 5. Laboratory Records & ERP Management
- Maintain herbal control samples and AYUSH sample records.
- Handle ERP/Ayurlive entries and laboratory documentation.
- Update monthly reports, MAC, ICF, laboratory consumption records, and annual stock records. Qualifications & Skills
- Educational qualification in Botany, preferably with relevant specialization or knowledge in medicinal plants.
- Knowledge of botanical identification and authentication techniques.
- Familiarity with microscopy and phytochemical analysis.
- Understanding of quality control procedures and laboratory documentation.
- Knowledge of TLC and HPTLC techniques will be an advantage.
- Good documentation, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow established SOPs. Preferred Candidate Profile
- Candidates with relevant experience in botanical quality control, herbal medicines, Ayurvedic products, or medicinal plant research will be preferred.
- Freshers with relevant academic knowledge and practical laboratory exposure may also apply.
