Role overview Trundl is hiring a mid-level Atlassian Engineer for our managed services team. You will be the ongoing operational owner for a portfolio of client Atlassian environments on Data Center and Cloud: keeping them healthy, secure and current, resolving issues within SLA, and making continuous improvements. Project work such as migrations and current rollouts is part of the role, but most of your time goes to run-and-improve support for long-term managed-services customers.
Key responsibilities
• Administer and configure Jira Software, Jira Service Management and Confluence: schemes, workflows, custom fields, screens, permissions and notifications.
• Build automation with Jira Automation and ScriptRunner (Groovy), and maintain JQL-driven dashboards and filters.
• Execute Server/Data Center to Cloud migrations using JCMA and CCMA, including app assessment, data cleanup, test migrations and cutover.
• Design and configure JSM service desks: request types, SLAs, queues, portals, approvals and assets/CMDB.
• Evaluate, install and configure Marketplace apps, and integrate Atlassian tools with identity providers (Atlassian Guard, SAML/SCIM) and third-party systems via REST APIs.
• Resolve escalated support tickets for managed-services clients on both Data Center and Cloud within agreed SLAs, including performance issues, upgrade failures and outages, and document root causes.
• Act as the primary engineer for a set of managed-services accounts, owning their backlog of tickets, change requests and enhancements.
• Perform proactive health checks: license and user audits, app and version currency, performance and index health, and security and permission reviews.
• Plan and execute routine maintenance, including Data Center upgrades and patch windows, under a change management process.
• Join recurring service reviews with client admins to report on ticket volume, SLA performance and recommended improvements.
• Take part in an on-call rotation for priority incidents.
• Lead client working sessions to gather requirements and translate them into configuration.
• Write clear runbooks, design docs and handover documentation in Confluence.
• Mentor junior engineers and review their configuration work Required
qualifications:
• 3–5 years administering Jira and Confluence in enterprise environments (500+ users), across both Data Center and Cloud deployments.
• Data Center support
experience:
version upgrades and patching, clustered/multi-node setups, load balancers, database and JVM tuning, log analysis (atlassian-jira.log, GC logs), backups and disaster recovery.
• Cloud support
experience:
site and org administration, Atlassian Guard policies, Cloud release-track changes, Marketplace app permissions and data residency, and working with Atlassian Support on Cloud-side incidents.
• Hands-on Jira Service Management configuration, including SLAs, queues and request types.
• At least one completed Server/Data Center to Cloud migration.
• Working proficiency in JQL, Jira Automation and either ScriptRunner/Groovy or a scripting language (Python, PowerShell).
• Experience with Atlassian REST APIs and basic integration patterns (webhooks, OAuth, API tokens).
• Understanding of user management: groups, project roles, SSO/SAML and SCIM provisioning.
• Client-facing communication
skills:
can run a requirements session and explain trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in a ticketed support model with response and resolution SLAs. Preferred
qualifications:
• Atlassian certifications: Jira Administrator for Cloud (ACP-120), Jira Service Management Administrator (ACP-420) or Confluence Administrator (ACP-200).
• Experience with JSM Assets (Insight) data modeling and imports.
• Exposure to Jira Align, Atlassian Analytics, Opsgenie/JSM Operations or Bitbucket.
• Prior work at an Atlassian Solution Partner or in a consulting/managed-services role.
• Experience with complex migrations: multiple instances merged, heavy Marketplace app footprint, or regulated industries (life sciences, healthcare).
