About the Role
Lumber is a construction payroll and workforce management platform serving contractors with payroll, HR, compliance, and ERP integrations. We're hiring an offshore Implementation Manager to independently own and deliver SMB implementations for our construction clients. This role sits at Level 3 (“Implementation Manager — Independent Ownership”) on Lumber's Implementation Team career ladder. It's built for someone who can manage a full book of SMB and MM implementations end-to-end with limited oversight — leading clients confidently, resolving issues independently, and raising the bar for the teammates around them. Job Title: Implementation Manager

Location:
Whitefield, Bengaluru Shift Timings : 6:30 pm
- 3:30 am

Key Responsibilities
Client Ownership & Communication
• Lead client-facing sessions independently, including kickoffs, discovery calls, and implementation reviews.
• Experience managing US clients
• Proactively manage client expectations rather than waiting for clients to raise concerns.
• Navigate difficult conversations — timeline slippage, scope issues — with professionalism.
• Build trust with day-to-day contacts and senior client stakeholders alike.
• Communicate confidently and accurately across all client touchpoints. Payroll & Implementation Execution
• Own SMB implementations end-to-end with no material oversight.
• Understanding of payroll cycles, statutory deductions, tax calculations and reconciliation
• Reconcile payroll and identify/resolve variances accurately and independently.
• Manage implementation timelines and coordinate across internal teams.
• Proactively identify and mitigate implementation risks.
• Drive implementation momentum without prompting. Organization & Process Management
• Manage 6–7 concurrent implementations without quality degradation.
• Maintain explicit,

current implementation tracking across all active clients.
• Identify scope issues early and handle them constructively.
• Keep CS, Support, and management informed without being prompted.
• Operate with minimal oversight — management is available, not required. Stakeholder Management & Communication
• Manage client relationships at every relevant level, from day-to-day contacts to senior stakeholders.
• Independently handle difficult clients, scope disputes, and post-go-live issues.
• Shape client expectations from the earliest stages of the engagement.
• Act as the client’s primary internal advocate; know when to escalate internally. Escalation & Problem Solving
• Resolve most implementation issues without manager involvement.
• Escalate with a clear recommendation — not just the problem.
• Track risk across multiple active projects and maintain situational awareness.
• Serve as a reliable escalation resource for Analyst
- and Sr. Analyst-level teammates.
• Never sit on a blocker — proactive escalation is a strength, not a weakness. Team Contribution & Growth
• Onboard and coach junior team members on product knowledge and implementation standards.
• Proactively identify team process gaps and drive improvements with follow-through.
• Contribute process improvement ideas that support team operational efficiency.
• Demonstrate strong ownership and accountability across all assigned clients. Qualifications Required
• 5+ years of experience in project management, implementation management,

or client-facing delivery roles.
• Prior professional experience in fintech, payroll, or HR technology (or a closely related financial services domain).
• Demonstrated technical capability — comfortable working with system configuration, data imports/exports, APIs, or software/ERP integrations (e.g., Acumatica, Sage, NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, or similar).
• Proven track record independently managing 5+ concurrent client implementations or projects.
• Experience reconciling payroll, financial, or transactional data and resolving variances independently.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills; comfortable leading client calls solo.
• Ability to work hours that meaningfully overlap with U.
S. (Pacific/Eastern) business hours. Preferred
• Direct experience implementing or supporting payroll, HRIS, or workforce management software.
• Familiarity with construction-industry payroll complexity — certified payroll, prevailing wage, or union payroll.
• PM certification (PMP, PMI-ACP, CAPM) or equivalent.
• Experience with Asana or comparable project-management tooling.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field. What Success Looks Like A Level 3 Implementation Manager owns 6–7 concurrent SMB implementations without quality degradation, resolves the majority of issues without manager involvement, and is trusted by both clients and teammates. Success is driving strong outcomes independently — and elevating the team around you by mentoring junior teammates and closing process gaps you spot along the way. Reporting & Team Structure Reports to Lumber's onshore Implementation leadership. Works as part of Lumber's offshore implementation pod, with onshore supervision available for escalations and high-stakes decisions — not required for day-to-day delivery.
