About the role
You'll own React Native development at the company. You'll lead our mobile app from architecture through to App Store and Play Store releases, and you'll mentor a Junior React Native Developer. You'll work closely with the Backend team on APIs and integrations, so transparent communication across teams is essential.
What you'll do
• Own the architecture, code quality and technical direction of our React Native (Expo) apps.
• Build and maintain high-quality, performant features for iOS and Android.
• Manage the full release cycle: builds, signing, versioning, OTA updates, store submissions, and handling review feedback.
• Work with the Backend team to define API contracts, data needs and integration approaches.
• Mentor the Junior React Native Developer through code reviews, pairing and guidance along with the TPM.
• Work with Design to turn designs into polished mobile experiences.
• Take part in the senior on-call rotation, including international paging. What we're looking for
• 6+ years of mobile development, with 3+ years of hands-on React Native work.
• Strong TypeScript/JavaScript and solid knowledge of React.
• Proven experience shipping and maintaining apps on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
• Experience with Expo and EAS (Expo Application Services), native modules, push notifications, deep linking, and performance tuning.
• Solid understanding of REST/GraphQL APIs, authentication and state management.
• Experience leading or mentoring other developers.
• Excellent communication skills. You should be able to discuss requirements and trade-offs clearly with backend, web and design teams.
• Experience working with AI tools for development, and a willingness to integrate AI into the SDLC Note: Full-stack experience is a strong plus but not mandatory. If you're an excellent mobile specialist who works well with backend engineers, we want to hear from you. Nice to have
• Backend experience with Django.
• Experience with Next.js or sharing code between web and mobile.
• Experience with app analytics and crash monitoring tools (for example Sentry or PostHog).
