Mechanical Design Lead – Data Centers Department: Design & Engineering Reporting to: Mechanical Head

Location:

Experience:
10–17 years, with significant experience in data centre buildings and campus infrastructure Qualification: B.
Arch /M.
Arch Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Role Purpose Lead mechanical design and engineering for data centre buildings and campus infrastructure, ensuring design quality, multidisciplinary coordination, code compliance, cost optimisation, and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead design and engineering of PHE (Plumbing Health Engineering) systems, including water supply, plumbing, and drainage.
• Oversee Fire Fighting (FF) systems, Fire Sprinkler systems, and Fire Detection systems.
• Review HSD (High-Speed Diesel) systems, including diesel storage, transfer, and distribution for DG installations.
• Lead Water Tank Design, including capacity calculations and sizing.
• Review STP & WTP design, sizing, and campus utility integration.
• Review Fire Extinguishers selection, placement, and compliance.
• Oversee Gas Suppression system design for data halls, UPS rooms, electrical rooms, and other critical spaces.
• Review design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, and GFC packages.
• Ensure multidisciplinary coordination with civil, structural, electrical,



HVAC, architectural, and BIM teams.
• Drive design reviews, value engineering, standardisation, and compliance with applicable NBC, NFPA, IS codes, and project specifications.
• Manage design consultants, review schedules, technical queries, and construction-stage design issues.
• Lead the mechanical design team, monitor SLAs and project milestones, and report progress and risks to the Mechanical Head. Required Skills and Competencies
• Proven experience in mechanical design for data centre buildings and/or campus infrastructure.
• Robust technical expertise across all the mechanical systems listed above.
• Knowledge of design calculations, engineering standards, BIM coordination, and construction documentation.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Navisworks.
• Strong leadership, consultant management, stakeholder coordination, and problem-solving skills. Key Performance Indicators
• Timely delivery of design packages and adherence to SLAs.
• Design quality, first-time-right submissions, and reduction in rework.
• Compliance with applicable codes, specifications, and quality standards.
• Timely closure of design comments, technical queries, and site issues.
• Effective consultant management, team performance, and multidisciplinary coordination.
