About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Wolfram Mathematica and Quantitative Economics Tutor to deliver personalized, 1:1 online lectures to an undergraduate student. At UCL, Wolfram Mathematica is integrated into highly quantitative modules
- specifically ECON0114 (Computational / Mathematical Economics) and ECON0010 (Mathematics for Economics)
- focusing on transforming abstract economic theory into working symbolic and numeric computational models. The ideal candidate must combine a postgraduate background in Economics/Mathematics with strong hands-on fluency in the Wolfram Language and experience teaching international university students.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct engaging, hands-on 1:1 live online tutoring sessions using Wolfram Mathematica Notebooks.
• Deliver structured instruction aligned with UCL’s ECON0114 and ECON0010 computational and mathematical methods modules.
• Guide the student in translating economic theory (microeconomic optimization, energetic macro models, and game theory) into working symbolic and numeric code.
• Assist with coursework, live coding exercises, simulation building, and exam preparation in line with UCL standards. Candidate Requirements
•
Education:
Master’s degree (M.
A. / M.
Sc.) or Ph.
D. in Economics, Mathematical Economics, Econometrics, or a closely related quantitative field.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong command of Wolfram Mathematica (functional programming, symbolic algebra, calculus, dynamic modeling, and interactive visualization).
•
Experience:
Minimum 6 years of teaching experience at the undergraduate/university level or in advanced international curriculum tutoring.
• International Exposure:
Proven track record of teaching international students (familiarity with UK university standards, specifically UCL curricula, is a strong plus).
