What is Hunch? Hunch is a dating app built for follow-through
- designed to turn mutual interest into a real first date instead of another chat thread that fizzles out. Built for people tired of mindless swiping and commodified matchmaking, Hunch uses an AI matchmaker to cut the week of back-and-forth and get two interested people out of the app and into the same room. With 2.4M+ daters, 1.47M+ dates planned, and 100% photo-verified profiles, Hunch is growing fast in the US by challenging the swipe-left/right norm of traditional apps. Hunch is a Series A funded ($23 Million) startup building the future of social discovery in a post-AI world. Link to our fundraising announcement Key Offerings Of Hunch:
• One Drop a Day: A small, hand-picked set of photo-verified profiles arrives daily
- chosen for taste, lifestyle, and who's actually free to meet. So every profile gets real attention instead of a mindless swipe.
• Interest Becomes a Plan: When both people want to meet, Hunch's AI matchmaker turns mutual interest into a confirmed date with a real time and place
- no logistics to manage.
• Every Match, Verified: Every profile is matched to a live photo before it appears in anyone's drop. No bots, no catfishing
- just real, trustworthy connections.
• Built to Move: Chats close after seven days and users hold a few conversations at a time
- nudges designed to get people out the door, not scrolling forever. Why is this a unique opportunity?
• Most editor jobs are about cutting someone else's footage.
• This one isn't. The HunchDating account is faceless by design. We are not building a brand around a presenter. Think of it as a magazine for dating, in reel form: a narrator over stills and footage, on-screen text that carries the argument, characters and situations people recognise, and Sia herself. Every reel teaches something about how people meet, what gets noticed, what gets ignored, and why. The edit carries it. Typography, pacing, sound and structure do the work a face would normally do.
• That's a harder job, and a much more interesting one. It's also the one that recent tools have made possible. A reel that used to need a shoot, a presenter and a day of production can now be built in hours from a script, a voiceover, a folder of stills and the right pair of hands.
• We've already made the first one that way. A 59-second "field note": one rule about dating, backed by 28,000 of our own conversations, told with a narrator, sticker cut-outs of people, chat bubbles, a counter and a timeline on a paper background. No camera was involved. The script, the voice, the stills and the first render were generated; what it still needs is the eye that turns a good first pass into something people finish and send to a friend. That eye is the job.
• We want those hands to belong to someone with a brilliant eye. Someone whose work just feels considered. You might obsess over a typeface, notice when a caption is two pixels out, or immediately see how a flat voiceover and three stills could become something people watch to the end.
• And you're curious. When a new image model, video tool or workflow gives you another way to bring a script to life, you'll want to play with it. The role
• We're looking for an exceptional short-form editor to make the HunchDating account look and feel like the best thing in someone's feed.
• At the heart of the role is craft with a point of view.
• We want someone who can read a script and see the reel. Someone who can take an okay cut and make it great. Someone who has their own ideas about how a format should open, turn and close, and enough taste that whatever they touch gets better.
• Sometimes you'll build something beautifully polished: a documentary-style piece on why a city dates the way it does, narrated over archival and stills.
• Sometimes it'll be a tight, text-led explainer: what people actually notice in a first photo, laid out as a grid, no faces, every frame considered.
• Sometimes it'll be a field note: a dead chat rebuilt bubble by bubble, a rule, and the number from our own data that proves it, with the people shown as stickers and the whole thing laid out on paper.
• Sometimes it'll be a story told entirely in type and sound, where the words are the picture.
• Sometimes you'll take a reel that worked and find three new ways to open it,

because we ship hook variants, not one-offs, and the winner gets re-run.
• And sometimes you'll have something in your head that would traditionally have needed a shoot, and use new tools to make it that same day.
• You'll work directly with the growth team, with a tight feedback loop between what you make and how people respond to it. We want you contributing to the idea, not just receiving it. What You'll Be Doing
• Editing and finishing five reels a week for Instagram and TikTok, from script and raw assets to posted reel
• Building reels from assets, not just footage: voiceover, stills, screen recordings, stock, archival and typography, made to feel premium rather than templated
• Owning the HunchDating visual system: a caption style, a serif-and-sans pairing, colour, the paper-and-sticker device, chat-UI and data-chart treatments, sound design and an end-card that's recognisable in the first second without a logo
• Finishing, not just starting. Much of our production is generated: scripts, voice, stills and a first render arrive together, and your job is the last 10–15% that separates a correct reel from a great one, plus making the system that produces the first 85% better each week
• Reading what's working for the audience every day, from a running feed of the reels women actually watch and share, and turning it into the next week's treatments
• Turning each script into a visual beat sheet before you cut: what the viewer sees at the hook, the turn and the close, and why
• Cutting two or three hook variants per script, labelling them cleanly, and tracking which one won so the next batch starts from the winner
• Developing and maintaining our recurring formats so each one has a repeatable template, a known runtime and a known opening
• Using AI image and video tools naturally alongside Premiere, After Effects and the rest of your toolkit, and being transparent-eyed about where they look cheap
• Reading the numbers on your own work each week and letting them change what you make next
• Staying close to great short-form, editorial design, internet culture and what's working on social right now Who You Are First and foremost, you have taste. The things you make look good. Not because someone handed you a perfect brand guideline, but because you understand typography, composition, movement, hierarchy, colour, pacing and all the small decisions that make a reel feel right. You'll Probably Have:
• A portfolio of short-form work that makes us wish we'd made it, with the numbers to go with it
• At least two reels in that portfolio built with no on-camera presenter (voiceover over stills or footage, text-led, character-led or screen-led) that performed
• Experience making videos that have gone viral, on a brand account, a client account or your own
• 3+ years editing short-form for Instagram Reels, TikTok or YouTube Shorts
• An excellent eye for typography, pacing and visual detail. You can build a caption system, not just type captions
• Strong Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, with real After Effects ability for text animation and motion. CapCut fluency for native-feeling cuts is a plus
• Motion-graphics range beyond captions: chat bubbles that type, counters that count, timelines, simple charts and cut-out collage, all timed to a voice
• Comfort working on top of programmatically generated video (we render in Remotion), or the curiosity to learn it. You don't need to code; you need to be able to say precisely what should change
• Sound design instincts: when to use original audio, how to sit a voiceover against music, and how to use silence
• Experience experimenting with generative image or video tools, and an opinion about them
• Fluent written English. You'll write and time on-screen copy without a translation step, and you'll spot a line that reads wrong
• The ability to move between a polished documentary cut and a fast, text-led explainer without either feeling off

• High standards without being precious about how you get to the result
• The confidence to have an opinion, and the instinct to make other people's ideas better too
• A base in the US or in India. If you're in the US, you'll keep a daily overlap window with our team in India (US Eastern mornings line up well with IST evenings) We don't expect you to know every AI tool. Half the tools we'll be using in a year may not exist yet. What matters is that when something new opens up creatively, your first instinct is to wonder what you could make with it. How We Work Craft first. The reel has to look and feel brilliant before anything else matters. Taste matters. We care about the small details that turn something competent into something people finish. Ideas get better together. Challenge them, add to them, and help other people's work get better. Variants, not one-offs. Every script ships as two or three hooks. The winner tells us what to make next. Performance matters. A great reel should look brilliant and do something: earn a follow, a share, a comment, a search for the name. Keep learning. Platforms change. Culture changes. Tools change. That's part of what makes the job interesting. This probably isn't the role for you if…
• You prefer being handed an exact execution rather than contributing to the idea
• You don't have a strong opinion about what looks good
• You need a presenter on camera to make a cut work
• You're uninterested in whether the reel actually performed
• You'd rather make one perfect reel a month than five good ones a week
• You have little curiosity about how new tools could expand what you're able to make
• You prefer established workflows to experimenting with better ones What We Can Offer You
• A small, senior team with very high standards and very little ego
• Real ownership of how a brand looks and sounds, from day one
• A direct feedback loop between your work and real audience response, every week
• The freedom to experiment with new tools and help shape how we use them
• The chance to build the recurring formats that a brand account runs on for years
• Huge autonomy and trust
• A genuine voice in what we make and how we make it
• Competitive compensation, discussed openly on the first call. We have a small team and few titles, so we'd rather hear your number than hand you a band
• Fully remote
• Paid time off
• The software, stock and AI subscriptions you need to do your best work Life at Hunch Hunch is a small team focused on shipping the parts of dating that usually stall
- getting two interested people into the same room. What We Hire For
- The ABCs Most companies have a long list of values nobody remembers. We have three, and they show up in how we hire, what we ship, and how we talk about the work:
• Authenticity
- Real before polished. We build for real people on real first dates, and we hire the same way. No theater. If something's not working, say so; if it is, ship it.
• Boldness
- Dating got stuck because nobody wanted to break the pattern. We make the call on what to ship, what to cut, and what doesn't belong in the product, even when it's the harder choice.
• Curiosity
- The best people here ask a lot of small, useful questions —

about us
ers, about the data, about each other's work. We trust people who keep learning over people who already know. How We Work
• Ownership, not theater
- You own outcomes, not status updates. Fewer meetings, fewer dashboards, more shipping.
• Flexibility that's real
- We care about the work, not the hours you sit at a desk. Take the afternoon, take the week
- show up for the stuff that matters.
• Move fast, don't burn out
- Hunch ships quickly because we cut the slow stuff, not because we work people into the ground. Velocity comes from focus, not from hours.
• Small team, big problems
- You'll work on things that matter to millions of people trying to actually meet someone. Every role moves the product. Backed by Global Investors Hunch is backed by Hashed, AlphaWave, Brevan Howard and Polygon Studios. Experienced Leadership Hunch is founded by a trio of industry veterans: Ish Goel (CEO), Nitika Goel (CPO), and Kartic Rakhra (CMO)
- serial entrepreneurs with their last exit from Nexus Mutual, a web3 consumer-tech startup.
