About the Role
Assistant Manager – QC (Sanand/Ahmedabad location) is responsible for ensuring that every NUA napkin produced, and every raw and packaging material used to make it, meets defined quality, safety and regulatory standards. The role leads incoming raw material inspection, in-process checks and finished goods release, and drives corrective actions so that customers receive a protected, consistent and high-quality product.

Key Responsibilities
A. Raw Material Inspection & Control
• Lead inspection and approval of all incoming raw materials, including fluff pulp, super absorbent polymer (SAP), nonwoven top sheet, acquisition distribution layer (ADL), PE back sheet, tissue/wrapping layers, hot-melt adhesive, release paper, wings and tapes, and inks.
• Verify supplier Certificates of Analysis (COA) against specifications and perform independent verification testing (GSM, thickness, absorbency, moisture content, tensile strength, SAP absorption capacity, odour, visual defects, etc.).
• Apply sampling plans (AQL / ISO 2859 or company-defined) and decide Accept / Reject / Hold for each lot.
• Ensure proper material identification, traceability, quarantine and segregation of non-conforming material.
• Inspect primary and secondary packaging materials (polybags, cartons, labels, shippers) for print accuracy, dimensions, seal strength and regulatory label content.
• Support supplier qualification, audits, performance rating and corrective action follow-up (SCAR). B. In-Process & Finished Product Quality
• Supervise in-process checks on the napkin production line: dimensions, weight, core formation, adhesive application, sealing, wing placement, folding, wrapping and pack count.
• Conduct and review finished goods testing: absorbency, leakage/rewet, pad dimensions, adhesion strength, pH, visual and packaging integrity.
• Authorise batch release or hold based on test results and batch documentation review.
• Monitor line deviations, perform root-cause analysis and verify implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).




• Manage retained samples and shelf-life/stability observations. C. Compliance & Documentation
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations, such as BIS IS 5405 for sanitary napkins, ISO 9001, GMP/hygiene requirements and any applicable medical-device or cosmetic-adjacent regulations for the market.
• Maintain and update SOPs, inspection plans, specifications, checklists and quality records.
• Prepare for and support internal, customer, regulatory and third-party audits.
• Maintain calibration schedules and records for all lab and inspection equipment. D. Customer Complaints & Continuous Improvement
• Investigate market and customer complaints (leakage, odour, adhesion, skin irritation, packaging defects) and issue root-cause reports.
• Track quality KPIs such as incoming rejection rate, in-process defect rate, complaint rate (PPM) and batch release turnaround; present monthly MIS to management.
• Drive improvement initiatives using 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto, SPC, Kaizen and Six Sigma tools.
• Collaborate with R&D;, Production, Procurement and Supply Chain on new material trials and product changes. E. Team Leadership
• Supervise, train and evaluate QC inspectors and lab staff; allocate shifts and workload.
• Train production and warehouse teams on quality standards, hygiene and defect recognition.
• Foster a quality-first, hygiene-conscious culture on the shop floor.
• Lead the QC team end to end: set daily and weekly targets, assign inspection and lab tasks across shifts, and review the quality of their work and records.
• Handle team performance, including goal setting, appraisals,



skill-gap identification, discipline and motivation; recommend hiring, promotions and training needs.
• Build a capable second line by cross-training inspectors on all material types and tests, and delegate responsibly in your absence.
• Resolve conflicts between QC and Production or Warehouse on accept/reject decisions, escalating to the Manager when needed. F. Supplier Audits & Independent Site Visits
• Plan and independently conduct on-site audits of raw and packaging material suppliers (pulp, SAP, nonwoven, PE film, adhesive, release paper, packaging), covering process control, hygiene, in-house testing, storage and traceability.
• Visit supplier facilities without needing a supervisor to accompany you, make audit-based approval or rejection recommendations, and present findings to management.
• Use structured audit checklists and scoring; issue audit reports and SCARs, and follow up on corrective actions to closure.
• Carry out pre-shipment or first-lot inspections at supplier locations when required, and verify the supplier's sampling, testing and batch records.
• Maintain the approved supplier list, audit calendar and supplier performance ratings; propose supplier development or alternate sourcing where quality is a concern.
• Conduct internal audits of production, warehouse and QC areas, and support customer and regulatory audits. Preferred

Qualifications:
• Education B.
Sc. / M.
Sc. (Chemistry, Textile, Polymer, Paper Technology, Microbiology) or B.
E./B.
Tech (Chemical, Textile, Polymer, Packaging, Industrial) or equivalent.
• Experience 5–8 years in Quality Control within hygiene products (sanitary napkins, diapers, tissues), nonwovens, FMCG or packaging manufacturing. At least 2–3 years in raw material and incoming inspection and in a supervisory role.
• Certifications (preferred) ISO 9001 Internal Auditor / Lead Auditor Six Sigma Green Belt Training in GMP, HACCP or cleanroom/hygiene practices
