Role Description The Chess Mentor will provide structured chess instruction to learners of different ages and skill levels in a full-time, on-site role based in Gurugram. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting individual and group chess lessons, preparing lesson plans and training materials, and teaching core concepts such as openings, tactics, strategies, endgames, and tournament preparation. The Mentor will assess learners’ current levels, set learning goals, track progress, and adjust teaching methods to support diverse learning styles. The role also involves organizing practice sessions, analyzing games with students, communicating regularly with parents or guardians about learner progress,



and collaborating with the EdifyChamps team to maintain high teaching standards. Qualifications
• Solid chess proficiency, with thorough knowledge of openings, middlegame strategies, endgames, and practical tactics; experience in tournament play or coaching is preferred.
• Teaching and mentoring skills, including lesson planning, learner assessment, and the ability to explain complex concepts in simple, engaging ways.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with children, adolescents, and families in a professional and inclusive manner.
• Ability to manage classroom dynamics, maintain a supportive learning environment, and adapt to different learning paces and styles.
• Relevant experience in coaching, tutoring, or education; a background in education or pedagogy is an advantage.
• Comfort with basic digital tools for lesson preparation, tracking progress, and communicating with learners and guardians.
• Commitment to learner-centered teaching, patience, and a genuine interest in helping students grow through chess.
