Chess Curriculum Designer We’re looking for a Chess Curriculum Designer to help us build a fun, engaging and play-based chess programme for children aged 5–12 at Openhouse.
This is an exciting, fast-paced project running from October to December 2026, ideal for someone who can join immediately. who we are Openhouse is a one-stop destination for parents to help their children grow beyond school, through sports, academics, extracurriculars, camps and workshops. Responsibilities:
• Design a structured chess curriculum for children aged 5–12, from beginner to advanced levels.
• Break down chess concepts into simple, age-appropriate lessons.
• Create fun, original games, puzzles and challenges to help children learn and practise chess.
• Develop lesson plans, teaching guides and learning materials for educators.
• Design ways to assess children's progress and help them advance to higher levels.
• Work with a visual designer to create engaging physical and digital learning resources.
We’re looking for someone who:
• Has experience teaching chess to children across different ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced learners.
• Has experience designing original games, puzzles and activities to teach chess concepts.
• Is familiar with high-quality chess learning resources, both digital and physical, and can evaluate and adapt them.
• Is willing to design within Openhouse's play-based learning approach and skills framework.
• Can work closely with a visual designer to create engaging learning materials.
• Has an AICF-recognised coaching certification and a chess rating of 1800+ on Chess.com or 2000+ on Lichess. The role reports to the Head of Learning Experience Design and offers flexible
working hours
