- Ability to troubleshoot complex PostgreSQL performance issues and rapidly determine whether the bottleneck is query, database, infrastructure, or application related.

- Advanced SQL/query tuning, including execution-plan analysis using EXPLAIN / EXPLAIN ANALYZE, indexing strategies, join optimization, statistics, and identifying inefficient queries.

- Strong understanding of PostgreSQL configuration and parameter tuning,

including memory, WAL, checkpoints, autovacuum, connection management, planner settings, and workload-specific optimization.

- Hands-on experience with AWS Performance Insights / Database Insights to identify database load, expensive SQL, waits, locking, and other performance bottlenecks.

- Robust understanding of Aurora PostgreSQL architecture, including clusters, reader/writer instances, replicas, failover, scaling, parameter groups, maintenance, and backup/recovery.

- Ability to develop proactive monitoring and alerting that identifies developing problems before they become production incidents
