Role Overview

At Foodstories, we believe that great food and beverages are an experience. We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Tea Sommelier who can bring the world of tea to life through curated selections, engaging customer experiences and innovative tea offerings.

The role will involve building tea expertise, curating premium tea collections, educating customers and driving tea-led experiences across our stores.

Key Responsibilities:

- Tea Knowledge & Curation

- Develop in-depth knowledge of different tea varieties, origins, regions, grades and processing techniques.
- Curate and recommend premium teas, including black, green, white, oolong, herbal, wellness and specialty blends.
- Understand flavour profiles, aroma, tasting notes, brewing temperatures and infusion techniques.
- Identify emerging tea trends, premium brands and unique tea offerings.

2. Customer Experience & Retail
- Engage with customers and provide personalised tea recommendations based on their preferences.
- Conduct tea tastings, guided sampling sessions and product demonstrations.
- Build engaging tea experiences through storytelling around tea origins, sourcing and brewing traditions.




- Train store teams to confidently explain tea varieties and make informed recommendations.

3. Product Development & Innovation
- Work on developing signature tea blends, infusions and creative beverage concepts.
- Explore tea pairings with gourmet food, desserts and other products.
- Collaborate with procurement and category teams to identify new products and sourcing opportunities.
- Contribute to seasonal collections, gifting assortments and curated tea hampers.

4. Training & Knowledge Building
- Develop training modules and reference guides on tea varieties, brewing methods and service standards.
- Conduct regular training sessions for store teams.
- Establish consistent tea preparation, tasting and presentation standards.

5. Business & Category Development
- Support the growth of the tea category through product recommendations and customer insights.
- Monitor customer preferences, category trends and competitor offerings.
- Work closely with merchandising and marketing teams on tea-led campaigns, activations and experiences.

Desired Candidate Profile

- 3–6 years of experience in tea, specialty beverages, premium hospitality or gourmet retail.
- Formal certification in tea tasting, tea sommelier programmes or equivalent specialised training would be preferred.
- Strong understanding of global tea varieties, origins, brewing techniques and flavour profiles.
- Experience in premium hotels, specialty tea houses, luxury retail, gourmet food or beverage brands.
- Excellent communication, presentation and customer engagement skills.
- Passion for food, beverages, discovery and creating memorable customer experiences.
