Argus News, a leading and fast-growing news organization in Odisha, is looking to hire dynamic and detail-oriented Sub-Editors to join the digital team for our English news website.
As a Sub-Editor, you will be responsible for editing, rewriting, and translating news copies sent by our reporters. You will play a crucial role in curating engaging news articles, features, and breaking news updates from across Odisha and beyond with speed and accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Edit & Translate: Edit, proofread, and translate news stories, features, and other digital content from Odia to English while ensuring high standards of journalism.
- Content Curation: Craft compelling headlines, summaries, and SEO-friendly copy for the website and digital platforms.
- Quality Control: Ensure all published content adheres to the channel’s editorial policy, style, tone, and journalistic ethics.
- Collaboration: Work closely with reporters, desk editors, and video teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of news stories.
- News Awareness: Keep a close eye on current affairs, politics, culture,
and breaking news to contextualize reports accurately.
Qualifications & Skills
- Language Proficiency: Excellent command over both Odia and English, with a strong flair for writing and crisp headline-making.
- Experience: Prior experience in digital journalism, sub-editing, or translation is preferred; freshers with a strong passion for news are also welcome to apply.
- SEO & AI: Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization and AI tools are an added advantage.
- Working Style: Strong attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to thrive under tight deadlines and fast-paced news cycles.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work in rotating shifts.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, or a related field is an added advantage.
