Hycosys is a deep-tech engineering company developing advanced hydrogen-capable power and propulsion systems, with a core focus on Micro Gas Turbines (MGTs) and high-speed turbomachinery.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer – Gas Turbine to lead definition, analysis and integration of critical subsystem architectures for advanced MGTs. The role focuses on secondary flows, sealing, clearance strategies, leakage control, efficiency, durability and operability across steady and transient conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Own subsystem architecture for secondary flows, leakage and clearance management
- Develop leakage and clearance budgets
- Build engine-level models for secondary-flow distribution and clearance behaviour
- Assess rotor–stator clearances, thermal growth and rotordynamics interactions
- Lead trade studies across efficiency, durability, weight and cost
- Integrate sealing technologies into product architecture
- Collaborate with structural, rotordynamics, turbomachinery, combustion and manufacturing teams
- Define instrumentation needs for pressure, temperature and leakage measurements
- Correlate design models with test data and identify risks such as rubs or seal degradation




- Maintain requirements allocation, traceability and configuration-controlled documentation

MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or related discipline
- 5+ years in gas-turbine or turbomachinery systems engineering
- Experience with secondary flows, seals and clearance management
- Understanding of thermal growth, rotordynamics and tolerance stack-up
- Strong foundation in fluid mechanics, heat transfer and thermodynamics
- System-level trade-study experience and cross-disciplinary technical decision-making
- Strong technical documentation skills

VALUABLE TO HAVE

- MGT or small-core gas-turbine experience
- Familiarity with API 617 or API 684
- Experience with ROMs, engine validation or endurance testing
- Tolerance analysis and life-prediction experience
