Intrinsic Foundries is hiring a Sr Sceintist / Director, Downstream Processing to own the processes, programs and facility that turn our biomass into certified products customers buy.
ABOUT US
Intrinsic Foundries (IIOT Innovation Private Limited) turns industrial carbon, from emissions and effluents, into a priced manufacturing feedstock. Our photobioreactor systems run beside industry, and our BioFoundry converts the biomass into specialty lipids, bioactive pigments, proteins, biostimulants and carbon materials. We are backed by Transition VC and supported by national programmes including BIRAC, and we are building a biomanufacturing hub in Jharkhand.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Own the full downstream train: dewatering, drying, cell disruption, extraction (supercritical CO2, solvent and aqueous), fractionation, purification, decolourisation, stabilisation and formulation
- Set yield, purity and cost targets per product family, and close the gap with mass balance and process control
- Run downstream development as programmes with milestones, budgets and gate reviews, including government co-funded deliverables
- Lead the downstream facility from design basis and equipment selection through commissioning and IQ, OQ, PQ
- Own technical dossiers and certifications: FSSAI, ISO 9001, ISO 22000 or FSSC 22000, HACCP, halal, kosher and buyer audits
- Lead the chemistry, analytical and product delivery team
WHAT YOU BRING
- 15+ years in phytochemicals, botanical extracts, natural colours and carotenoids, specialty oils or nutraceutical ingredients, with plant-level responsibility
- Hands-on depth in extraction and purification at scale
- At least one facility setup or major expansion led from design to commissioning
- Certifications and customer audits led successfully
- A team of 10+ managed; a master's degree or PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, food technology or a related field
ROBUST ADVANTAGE
- Algal, microbial or fermentation-derived products (carotenoids, PUFA oils, proteins)
- GMP experience with regulated EU or US export customers
- Cost of goods modelling and techno-economic analysis
