We are seeking a senior Databricks architect/engineer who can design, build, and govern a modern enterprise data platform on Databricks. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in traditional data modeling and data architecture (SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, etc.) and have successfully transitioned to cloud-native lakehouse architectures.

This individual will be responsible for defining the data platform strategy, establishing best practices, mentoring engineers, and ensuring the platform can scale to support enterprise analytics, AI, and self-service data consumption.

Key Responsibilities

- 8+ years of experience in Data Architecture and Lakehouse Design.
- Design enterprise-scale Databricks Lakehouse solutions using Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.
- Define data modeling, governance, master data, and architecture standards.
- Optimize performance, scalability, and data processing; lead architecture reviews and documentation.

Skills & Experience 1. Data Modeling & Modernization

- Expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, data modeling, and traditional data warehouses.
- Experience modernizing legacy platforms, ETL workflows, relational models, and star/snowflake schemas into cloud-native Delta Lake architectures.

2. Data Engineering & Optimization

- Strong expertise in Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows, MLflow, PySpark, and SQL; Scala preferred.
- Experience in ETL/ELT design, ingestion, performance tuning, compute optimization, and cost management.

3. Governance, Security & Compliance

- Knowledge of data lineage, metadata, data quality, and enterprise governance.
- Experience with Unity Catalog, RBAC, data masking, row/column-level security, and compliance frameworks such as SOX, GDPR, and PCI-DSS.

4. Analytics & Self-Service Enablement

- Design curated data products, semantic layers, and scalable reporting solutions.
- Familiarity with Databricks AI/BI, Genie, and self-service analytics.

5. AI & Generative AI Capabilities

- Understanding of Databricks AI tools, including Mosaic AI, Feature Store, Vector Search, Model Serving, Agent Bricks, and MLflow.
- Knowledge of RAG architectures and AI-enabled data products is desirable.

6. Leadership & Collaboration

- Lead architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and establish technical best practices.
- Collaborate with global teams and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate Profile
- Background in data modeling, DBA, or data architecture with experience in legacy systems and cloud modernization.




- Ability to define enterprise data strategy while balancing governance, performance, scalability, and AI-driven analytics.

- Exposure to Databricks AI capabilities and experience in Financial Services or regulated industries.

Education:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field
- Master’s degree is a plus
