Role Description The Sanitation Consultant will support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of sanitation and hygiene programs for the district. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Jagatsinghapur, involving regular field visits to communities, schools, and public facilities to assess sanitation needs and practices. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting surveys, analyzing data, preparing reports, and recommending improvements to sanitation infrastructure and behavior change initiatives.

The consultant will coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, and partner organizations, and help organize training sessions, awareness campaigns, and capacity-building activities.



The role also includes tracking project progress against targets, ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines, and providing technical advice on cost-effective and sustainable sanitation solutions.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of public health, sanitation, hygiene practices, and community development.
- Experience in fieldwork, data collection, basic data analysis, and reporting related to sanitation or rural development.
- Ability to design and support awareness campaigns, training programs, and community engagement activities.
- Effective communication skills in spoken and written language, with the ability to work with diverse community groups and government officials.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project timelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, Social Work, Rural Development, Civil Engineering, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Prior experience in government or development sector projects in sanitation or WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) is an advantage.
- Willingness to work on-site in Jagatsinghapur, conduct regular field visits, and travel within the district as required.
