Job summary

Twigs Direct is looking for a detail-oriented and technically proficient Production Foreman to run our factory floor and own the Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and Bills of Materials (BOM) for our furniture and interior projects. You will supervise carpenters, painters, packers and other floor staff, and control quality, schedules, materials and safety.

You will also own costing from pre-sales to production. That means reviewing drawings and specifications, calculating material requirements, preparing cost estimates in our ERP, and coordinating with the Design, Production, Store, Purchase and Sales teams for accurate costing and smooth project execution.

Experience: 2-5 years

Type: Full-time

Location: Sector 76, Gurugram

Reports to: Head of Operations

Key responsibilities

Floor supervision

- Assign daily tasks to carpenters, painters, packers and other floor staff. Panel processing engineers are managed directly by the designer and are outside this scope.
- Train recent staff, resolve technical and machine-related issues on the floor, and remove roadblocks to keep work moving.

Quality and schedule control

- Monitor the quality of wood machining, joinery and finishes so that production deadlines and shop drawings are met.

Safety

- Ensure all workers follow occupational health and safety standards.

Pre-sales cost estimation

- Once the designer shares a sufficiently detailed drawing, calculate the BOM and raw material cost.
- Select the correct costing category in the ERP, following the company's costing guidelines.
- The ERP calculates the total cost of production by applying the costing multiplier to the raw material cost.

The Sales Executive then adds the profit margin and prepares the final proposal or PI for the customer.
- Assist in preparing cost estimates based on material quantities, hardware, finishes and other production requirements.

BOQ and BOM preparation

- Prepare BOQs and BOMs for furniture and interior projects based on approved designs, drawings and specifications.
- Review AutoCAD drawings, furniture layouts, technical drawings and design details to determine material and component requirements.
- Calculate quantities of wood, plywood, MDF, veneers, laminates, fabrics, foam, metal, hardware, fittings and other materials used in furniture manufacturing.
- Prepare detailed material lists, cutting lists and material consumption sheets for production.
- Ensure accuracy in quantity calculations, material utilisation and wastage estimates.

Post-order production planning

- After the order is confirmed, approve the detailed production drawings and make fine adjustments to the BOM already created.
- Revise BOQs, BOMs and cost estimates in line with approved changes to drawings, materials and project specifications.
- Coordinate with the Design and Production teams to clarify technical details, material specifications and design revisions.

Materials, inventory and purchase coordination

- Check material stock, such as timber, panels, hardware and adhesives,

and request equipment or supplies as needed.
- Work with the Store Manager to identify the raw material to be purchased. The Store Manager passes the shopping list to the Purchase Manager, and the ERP checks purchase history, flags high prices and suggests new vendors.
- Work with the Purchase team to verify material availability, specifications and procurement requirements.

Documentation

- Maintain accurate records of material calculations, costing sheets and project documentation.

Required skills and qualifications

- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering or a relevant field.
- 2–5 years of experience in BOQ/BOM preparation, estimation or furniture manufacturing.
- Understanding of furniture construction, manufacturing processes and material specifications.
- Knowledge of furniture materials, including solid wood, plywood, MDF, veneers, laminates, fabrics, foam, metal and hardware.
- Hands-on knowledge of wood machining, joinery and finishing, with the ability to judge quality on the floor.
- Experience supervising and training factory workers such as carpenters, painters and packers.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical and machine-related issues on the shop floor.
- Working knowledge of occupational health and safety practices in a factory.
- Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings, shop drawings and technical furniture drawings.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and material quantity calculations; comfort working in an ERP system.
- Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
- Good coordination skills and attention to detail.
