Most homes in India are still built by hand, on site, one brick at a time. We build them in a factory: each room is a steel-framed module, finished inside, then trucked to site and stacked. The dream is to build whole buildings the way you'd build a car. One day, towers.
Next year we make our first six modules and stack them into a two-storey block. Our first real building. We're a small team, and most of what it takes doesn't exist yet.
THE JOB
- Find, check and buy everything we build with: the steel, boards, panels, insulation, windows, doors and fittings in each module, and the robots, motors and automation parts in the Jigcell, the machine that builds them
- Get quotes, compare them, test samples and place the orders
- Check each part against what we could make ourselves
- Make sure things arrive when we need them, at the price we agreed
- Keep a close eye on cost. Our goal is for each module to cost close to its raw materials
- Find a cheaper or better option for something every month
You'll work with Yash (https://www.linkedin.com/in/yash-tak-20881b103/), and with the mechanical design engineer on what each part needs to be.
YOU'VE PROBABLY
- Spent 1–3 years buying materials for construction, steel or manufacturing
- Know your way around Indian suppliers, from big dealers to IndiaMART listings
- Can read a drawing and a bill of materials
- Bought machinery or automation parts: motors, drives, sensors, or a robot
- Negotiated a price down and kept the supplier happy
PAY AND START
- ₹4.5–5.6 lakh a year (CTC) + shares, vesting over 4 years with a 1-year cliff. The less cash you take, the more shares you get
- Salary is for your first 12 months; after that we review it based on your performance
- Remote to start. When our factory opens, you relocate there
- Starts 1 February 2027
HOW WE HIRE
- Email a paragraph about yourself
- A short call
- A sourcing task at home, about four hours. The work stays yours
- A video call with David (https://www.linkedin.com/in/david-john-varghese/) and Yash, where you walk us through it
