Role Summary

Supervise the fabrication, assembly and site installation of Tralcer Range of Automation Products including gantry robots, Vertical Lifters, Conveyors, Radio Shuttles and related products. Own the build from shop floor to commissioning at the customer plant, making sure each system meets drawing, quality, safety and delivery targets. Strong drawing reading and interpretation is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

Fabrication and assembly (Peenya)

- Plan and run the build schedule for each gantry project against delivery dates
- Supervise fabrication of gantry structures, girders, columns, end carriages and rails
- Supervise welding, machining and assembly work by in-house teams and fabrication vendors
- Read and work from GA drawings, fabrication drawings and BOMs; raise drawing queries with design
- Run stage-wise quality checks: weld quality, dimensions, alignment, squareness and surface finish
- Coordinate with Stores and Purchase on bought-out items such as hoists, motors, drives, gearboxes and electricals
- Oversee trial assembly and load testing before dispatch
- Plan packing, marking and dispatch of components to site

Site installation and commissioning (travel)
- Travel to customer plants to supervise erection and installation
- Check site readiness: foundations, civil work, column positions and power supply
- Supervise erection crews and contractors on site, including rail laying and alignment




- Coordinate with the electrical and automation team for wiring, controls and integration
- Carry out trial runs, load tests and commissioning with the customer team
- Resolve on-site issues and punch-list items until handover
- Prepare installation reports, test certificates and handover documents

General

- Enforce safety for heavy lifting, working at height and hot work, both in the shop and on site
- Maintain project records, daily progress reports and MIS
- Train and manage technicians, fitters and welders
- Feed site learnings back to design and production to improve future builds

Requirements

- BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering
- Must be able to read and fully understand engineering drawings: GA drawings, fabrication and part drawings, assembly drawings, weld symbols, tolerances and GD&T;
- 3 to 4 years in structural fabrication, heavy engineering or material handling equipment
- Experience with gantries, EOT cranes, conveyors or similar systems preferred
- Hands-on knowledge of fabrication, welding, assembly and alignment
- Exposure to erection and commissioning at customer sites
- Basic understanding of electrical drives, controls and PLC-based automation is a plus
- Working knowledge of quality tools (RCA, 5 Why) and safety practices for lifting operations
- Comfortable with MS Excel and project tracking
- Open to frequent travel and extended stays at customer sites across India
