About Raghu Vamsi
RV is a precision engineering and manufacturing group serving global OEMs across aerospace, oil & Gas and defence. From our facilities in Hyderabad, and through our group companies in the United Kingdom, we deliver complex, high-tolerance machined components and assemblies to some of the most demanding customers in the world. As we scale capacity and adopt next-Generation manufacturing practices, we are strengthening our operations leadership.
Role Purpose
This role owns day-to-day production, planning and shop-floor execution for the Aerospace plant, working alongside the AVP - Plant Operations. You will be accountable for delivering output to plan - on time, at cost and at quality - and for a step change in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through disciplined management of Man, Machine and Method.
This is a hands-on leadership role that includes leading our Digitalisation Project, RV's Industry 4.0 and paperless manufacturing drive. We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable presenting performance data to senior management and standing at a machine with an operator solving a problem.
Working Relationships
The role reports to the AVP - Plant Operations, who guides and reviews day-to-day-to-day performance. A functional line to the COO - Aerospace covers the operations plan, customer commitments and escalations. You will work closely with:
- SCM and Quality: keep Material, FAI and process readiness aligned with the production plan.
- Engineering and NPD: plan new part introductions and transitions without disrupting running jobs.• Standardisation and Value Engineering: use standard BOMs, tool lists and top running part numbers in planning; tools, consumables and cost per component sit with these teams.
- Paperless and digitalisation team: partner on the Digitalisation Project as the operations owner and daily user of machine monitoring, program transfer and shop-floor data.
Key Responsibilities
Production and Planning
- Own the master production schedule; convert the sales and order book into achievable weekly and daily plans across machining cells. Raghu Vamsi Aerospace - General Manager, Operations (Aerospace) • Drive schedule adherence and on-time delivery (OTD); identify bottlenecks early and act before they reach the customer.
- Balance capacity, manpower and tooling availability across shifts; plan for load peaks, new part introductions and transitions.
- Coordinate with SCM, Quality and Engineering so that Material, FAI and process readiness stay aligned with the plan. OEE and Performance (Man, Machine, Method).
- Own OEE as a headline metric: measure it honestly, break it into availability, performance and quality losses, and drive improvement on each.
- Man: shift discipline, skill mapping, training matrices, multi-skilling and productivity per operator.
- Machine: uptime, planned and unplanned downtime, and preventive maintenance in coordination with the maintenance team.
- Method: cycle-time and setup-time reduction, standard work, 5S and lean daily management.
- Run a visible daily performance rhythm: tiered meetings, hour-by-hour boards and clear escalation paths.
Digitalisation, Industry 4.0 and Paperless Plant & Operation
- Lead the plant side of the Digitalisation Project, RV's drive for paperless manufacturing: drawings, work instructions, process sheets, FAI and job records moving from paper to live digital records on the shopfloor.
- Drive real-time machine monitoring and digital program transfer across CNC assets, with live OEE dashboards, downtime capture and utilisation reports.
- Use machine data for real decisions: predictive maintenance, tool-life tracking, scrap-cause analysis and schedule optimisation.
- Work with IT, the paperless team and vendors to integrate shop-floor data with ERP so that planning runs on live data rather than lagging reports.
- Build the plant's digital maturity roadmap and take the team along: technology that operators trust and use, not dashboards that gather dust.
People and Floor Leadership
- Be present and credible on the shop floor; know the operators, the machines and the jobs by name.
- Build ownership and accountability at supervisor and operator level; coach rather than command.
- Partner with HR on retention, engagement and skill development of the operator workforce.
- Translate management targets into floor-level actions, and floor realities into management decisions.
Candidate Profile
Experience and Qualifications
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production or Industrial Engineering; a post-graduate qualification in
Operations or Manufacturing Management is an advantage.
- 15 to 20 years in precision machining or engineering manufacturing, including at least 5 years leading production or operations for a plant or several cells. Aerospace, oil & Gas or defence component manufacturing is strongly preferred.
- Proven record of improving OEE, OTD and productivity in a multi-machine CNC environment.
- Hands-on exposure to Industry 4.0 and paperless manufacturing: machine connectivity and monitoring, program transfer, MES/ERP integration or data-led improvement projects.
Raghu Vamsi Aerospace - General Manager, Operations (Aerospace)
- Working knowledge of lean tools (5S, SMED, VSM, kaizen, TPM) and structured problem solving (8D,
A3, root-cause analysis).
Skills and Attributes
- Analytical and data-literate; comfortable with dashboards, spreadsheets and machine data.
- Able to present to senior leadership and customers, and equally able to connect with operators on the floor.
- Strong planning discipline with a bias for execution; calm under pressure and decisive when the plan breaks.
- High integrity in reporting tells it as it is, with data.
- Respected on the floor through presence, fairness and technical credibility.
- Works well with a senior guide and is open to learning the RV way of operating.
What We Offer
- A senior leadership role in a fast-growing precision manufacturing group with an expanding global customer base.
- Direct guidance from an experienced plant leader, and visibility to group leadership.
- The opportunity to build the plant's Industry 4.0 and paperless transformation under the Digitalisation Project.
- Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience.
